Hi, I'm Vatsal Vatsyayan — a Software Engineer and MSCS student at the University of Southern California, passionate about building intelligent and automated systems that bridge AI and backend engineering.
I currently work as a Software Developer at the USC Digital Repository, where I build large-scale digital preservation and automation workflows.
Before USC, I spent two years at UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) as a Software Engineer, working on distributed systems, microservices, and performance optimization in enterprise environments.
Lately, I’ve been diving deep into AI, LLMs, RAG, and Agentic AI, exploring how these technologies can make information systems more intuitive and powerful. I’m especially excited about combining automation, retrieval, and reasoning to create tools that save time and amplify human capability.
Outside of work, I enjoy experimenting with new frameworks, participating in hackathons, and turning ideas into real, working prototypes.

Developed an agentic RAG system integrating Gemini API, FAISS, and FastAPI for conversational insurance PDF Q&A and in-network doctor search via NPI APIs.
Built a JWT-authenticated FastAPI–MongoDB app with Tesseract OCR to parse recruiter details from screenshots and automate cold emails via Google Apps Script; extended with a Chrome extension to analyze job descriptions, check H-1B sponsorship, and generate tailored cover letters.
Created a real-time summarizer using RSS, FAISS, and sentence-transformers; integrated Mistral via Ollama for semantic Q&A, enabling context-aware responses on tech articles.
Engineered an AI-driven NL-to-SQL system by fine-tuning BART/T5 and integrating SBERT embeddings, achieving 70%+ accuracy on complex queries.
