This should prevent weird conflicts when, say, someone (who shall remain nameless) opens a file with UNIX newlines, saves it with Windows newlines, and then commits, thus "changing" every line in the file as far as Subversion is concerned.

Note that for the vast majority of files, this will not change the contents of the file, only the property; and for the few files modified, the only change is to make line endings consistent throughout the file.
