I have a MCP server and would like to distribute it as a plugin. It works really nice in clients but biggest problem is, it only works on a single platform:
The .mcp.json leaves no space to define platform-dependent binaries
{
"mcpServers": {
"my-cool-server": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "./bin/server"
}
}
}
So, how can I make it work on Linux, macOS and Windows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
P.S. I would love to make some cross-platform wrapper with npx or Python, but there are no guarantees of any of that runtimes being available, neither generally or for specific Clients.
