Upwork MCP server: what it does, and how to watch new jobs safely

Yes, Upwork has an official MCP server. Since 10 August 2026 it lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI tools work in your Upwork account, with your OK on every change. Its terms don't cover checking for new jobs on a schedule — flconsole MCP does that within a minute, without touching your account.

What Upwork's MCP server is

It's Upwork's own connector for AI tools. You add it to your AI app, sign in with Upwork, and your agent can use your account the way you would on upwork.com — within what Upwork's tools allow.

Upwork's MCP acts in your account

  1. You

ask your agent for one task: a search, a proposal, a reply

  2. Your OK

every change is shown to you first and waits for your confirmation

  3. Upwork's MCP

does it in your Upwork account, signed in with your Upwork login

flconsole MCP watches new jobs

  1. flconsole MCP

collects new Upwork job posts itself, within a minute of posting

  2. Your feeds

keep the jobs and clients that fit your search and filters

  3. Your agent

checks as often as you like. No Upwork login asked

What it can do for freelancers

  • Search jobs and open a job by its link
  • Show jobs Upwork recommends for your profile
  • Draft and submit proposals, accept or decline invitations
  • Read and send messages
  • Review offers, track contracts and submit milestone work
  • Update your profile

Some steps still finish on upwork.com: accepting an offer, funding or approving a milestone, starting a profile boost.

Upwork's MCP and flconsole do different jobs

Upwork's MCP is for acting in your account when you ask. Watching for new jobs is a different job: Upwork's terms don't cover it, and doing it from your account is a risk. flconsole MCP watches new jobs for you and doesn't use your Upwork account at all.

Most people who want both speed and safety use the two together.

Use both: flconsole finds, Upwork's MCP sends

Connect both to the same agent. flconsole brings the new jobs that fit — from clients who actually hire; your agent drafts proposals; Upwork's MCP sends the ones you approve.

  1. flconsole MCP

finds new jobs on a schedule

  2. Your agent

picks the ones that fit and drafts proposals

  3. You

Set up both in two steps

Searching for new jobs with Upwork's MCP: the risk

Upwork's API & MCP terms allow search for a specific task you ask for, but not activity designed to continuously monitor jobs. terms An agent that checks Upwork's MCP for new jobs every few minutes does exactly that, from your account. One freelancer reports a policy violation after checks every 15 minutes, and Upwork support didn't say what the limit is. source

  • Let flconsole watch new jobs.

Your agent checks flconsole as often as you like. Your Upwork account isn't involved.

  • Use Upwork's MCP for actions.

Proposals, messages and offers — when you ask, after your OK.

  • Keep your login with Upwork.

flconsole never asks for your Upwork login, never connects to your Upwork account and never sends anything in your name.

We can't speak for Upwork. If you're unsure about a use, ask Upwork support.
