[edit]From Mongolian ᠬᠠᠭᠠᠯᠭᠠᠨ (qaɣalɣan, “gate”), from Mongolian ᠴᠢᠭᠣᠯᠠᠯᠲᠣ
ᠬᠠᠭᠠᠯᠭᠠ (čiɣolalto qaɣalg-a, “meeting or assembly gate”), from its important position on Mongolia's trade routes with northern China.
