[edit]Inherited from Proto-Hellenic *ágō, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂éǵeti (“to be driving”), from the root *h₂eǵ- (“to drive”). Cognate with Latin agō (“I act; I do; I drive”), Sanskrit अजति (ájati, “he drives”).
