From Proto-Indo-Aryan *dʰaH-, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰaH-, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰeh₁-. Cognate with Ancient Greek θέμα (théma, that which is put down), θέσις (thésis, placement, arrangement); Latin faciō (make, do) whence English fact, factory etc; English do, deed, deem, doom.
