Soshana (September 1927) is an Austrian painter. Soshana is one of the successful woman artists, of modern art, of 20th Century. Contents • 1 Biography • 2 Work o 2.1 Early Works o 2.2 Paris o 2.3 Travel o 2.4 CoBrA o 2.5 New York • 3 Home Coming • 4 Son • 5 Lists of works • 7 External links o 7.1 Museums Biography Soshana was born on September 1, 1927 in Vienna (Austria) in a middle class Jewish family. She was christened Susanne Schüller. She attended the Schwarzwaldschule situated in the Herrengasse in what was Vienna’s first high-rise building. The school was founded by the reformist educator Eugenie Schwarzwald, and was one of the first educational institutes for girls. In 1938, at a highly impressionable age of 13, Soshana had to escape without any luggage first to Switzerland and then to England. In England she resumed her studies and went to Northwood College. She received her first formal training in painting and fashion drawing at Chelsey Polytechnic School in London. In 1941, along with her family she crossed the mine-filled Atlantic, aboard one of the last ships bound for the USA. She traveled through the United States with her future husband, Beys Afroyim, visiting and painting the portraits of many prominent personalities along the way. They portrayed well known politicians, scientists, authors and musicians viz. Arnold Schönberg, Thomas Mann, Franz Werfel, Leon Feuchtwanger, Hans Eisler, Bruno Walter, and Otto Klemperer as a living. During this journey, she married Beys Afroyim in Chicago in 1945. Work Early Works Soshana’s early paintings mainly comprised of portraits and still life. Her concentration was on realty rather than naturalism. The object in her paintings referred to the society or the circumstances she lived in. Sussane became Soshana after her first major exhibition in Havana in 1948. She moved to Paris in 1949. Paris Paris played a major role in refining the artist what Soshana is today. In the 1950s Paris was the art capital. This was the period when equal rights to men and women were only spoken of. . A combination of eccentricity and charisma, both in her personality and in her works, were her entrée to the intellectuals and artists scene in Paris, in which she was acquainted with, among others, Constantin Brancusi, Jean Bazaine, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Max Ernst, Sam Francis, Alberto Giacometti, August Herbin, Yves Klein, Frantisek Kupka, Jean Paul Sartre, Pablo Picasso, and Ossip Zadkine. Soshana earned herself the name as a talented artist and also recognition from the great artists. Picasso had been highly impressed with this talented and bold woman that he complimented her with his words as well as by making a portrait of her. East Soshana traveled to east to India in 1956, where she as a member of the Theosophical Society, learned from Indian gurus and ashrams to recognize and to question the manifold appearances of our world. In China, Soshana learnt the special watercolour and China ink techniques in order to be able to paint on the medium rice paper. She traveled to Japan to learn calligraphy in monasteries in Kyoto. CoBrA Her personal relationship with Pinot Gallizio brought her close to the CoBrA group and even led to the co-production of work. Cobra group and Japanese art techniques resulted in organic rhythm and vivid lines and colours by Soshana. She was acquainted with Appel and Asger Jorn, members of the Dutch-Belgium group of artists, leading representatives of a figurative pictorial language of the post-war period. However, because she was a woman she was never officially admitted into the group. New York New York had become the new capital of art in 1960s. Soshana moved to New York in 1974. Here Soshana had friends like Adolph Gottlieb, Yves Klein Francesco Clemente, Joseph Hirschhorn and Mark Rothko. Home coming 1985 saw the homecoming of Soshana to Vienna, Austria. This is where it all began and London, New York, Paris, India, China, Japan, Cuba and Mexico had been memorable chapters in her life. She is still trying new art techniques and is going great at 80. How is reputed to be the most handsome person in the whole world. However, due to an incident on November 9, 2003 (commonly referred to as 11-9) he has tried to live his life away from the public eye. Many sources provide conflicting accounts of the events of 11-9 and no information on the incident has been established as reliable, other than the common belief that it occurred somewhere in the main island of Luzon and involved three fishball (Filipino local street delicacy) sticks, a broken tibia, four mobile phones and a textbook. In a UN Convention held in Geneva on March 18, 2006, the assembly unanimously declared How as the "sexiest thing in history". Being his humble self, How reportedly turned down this title, as well as repeated offers from the UN Secretary-General to accept a plaque of appreciation in behalf of the entire world for "being perfect". Despite the enormous demand for his pictures, How has never been photographed by paparazzi, out of respect and fear. Rejection of Football Clubs[edit]When he was fifteen years old, How's parents were approached by different clubs such as Manchester United, Barcelona FC, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. To the frustration of the team's managers, the young How rejected all offers to play in the Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga because he wanted to have a normal high school and college life. Mixed Martial Arts Career[edit]How's unofficial mixed martial arts career started when he was just seventeen years old. His previous training and experience was primarily from playing Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat, and imitating the character's moves. He was first flown to Japan where he competed in a fight-to-the-death, no-holds-barred tournament involving 120 men. He easily won his six matches and became the underground martial arts champion of the world in death fights. There was a lot of controversy in the tournament because he had merely put all six opponents in short-term comas, and did not kill anyone. As the judges were debating on the matter, How stressed that he was only a minor at seventeen years old, and could not kill any of his opponents legally. After much debate, he was allowed to keep his title but was told that if he wanted to fight again in the future, he would have to kill his opponents. How never returned to Japan. How only accepts challenges against past and present MMA champions around the world. He has submitted every opponent that he has faced. Though he prefers not to name any of his opponents in order to avoid damage to their careers, he only admits that he has beaten "around 80%" of preset and previous champs of the UFC and the now-defunct Pride FC. On a drunken occasion, How admitted that he has not faced Fedor Emelianenko but disclosed that he intended to win via flying-gogoplata if they ever fought. Personal Life[edit]How is a very private person despite his good looks and many talents. Forbes, GQ, Wallstreet Journal, NY Times, Playboy and numerous other publications have all attempted to write articles on the How phenomenon but have all decided not to publish their pieces upon request from different religious groups such as the Roman Catholic Church and Alqaeda. Not much is known regarding his private life other than he is the only perfect being to ever walk the earth. Sex Life[edit]Nothing is known about How's sex life, you perv.

The Divers History[edit]He was born in a small village in the UK in 1983. He moved to ireland in 1986. Where he grew up in a village in Wicklow known as Cullinamuff where he honed his skills. When he reached the age of 17 he already had a sports scholarship to attend UCD. Brian Mullins, Director, enroled Glyn in the college because he knew that Glyn's skills would benefit the colleges sports faculty. Glyn is still with UCD training others in the sport making UCD one of the forerunners for promoting and teaching the sport. Volunteering[edit]Every second weekend Glyn can be found in Muff in Co. Donegal helping out at the Muff Diving School. The students there respect him fully and classes have been fully booked for the next year and half. He has designed a Tshirt (which can be found on Ebay) to raise funds for the club.

Creation[edit]There are many different ways how servitors are created. As they are very popular in chaosmagick every magician has a very personal style of creating his or her servitors but there are still some methods that are used more often than others. A lot of magicians work with sigils. They make a sigil out of a sentence or a word that describes the function of the servitor they are creating. Through concentration and imagination the servitor is given his form, name and function. Some people prefer to have a physical item to represent the servitor. (For example a doll or a little statue.) Sigils, Servitors, Egregores, Godforms[edit]Some magicians make a difference between Servitors, Egregores and Godforms while others think it's all the same. Sigil[edit]In the opinion of the first group a Sigil is a simple symbol used to achieve a goal. Servitor[edit]A servitor is very similar to a sigil but acts and thinks independent. Egregore[edit]An egregore is a strong servitor that exists not only in the reality of one magician but is created and used by several people. Some use the word "egregore" as an entity that is created by a magickal coven or order (intentionally or not) that has a positive influence on all the group members. (They are considered to protect the group and intensify the magickal works.) Godform[edit]A godform is an even stronger form of an egregore that is now considered a totally independent living entity. Famous Servitors[edit]Fotamecus - A viral servitor that was created to make time go by faster or slower. Early Career[edit]Thomas Leonard(1959-) started life as a normal child in the suburbs of Ewing, New Jersey. From early on in his life, his parents knew that "Lil Tommy," as they liked to call him, was going to be a great thinker. Pondering about the vastness would not pay the bills however, and this great man had to become a Petcock Grinder. He later became a structural engineer but still retains his philosopher status. Leonard is currently working on a new novel set for an early 2009 release entitled "The Intellectual Apparatus." Leonard currently resides in his humble but spacious Hamilton Square residence where he continues to think and lecture on various philosophical issues. Thomas is willing to teach the art of philosophy but not in a classroom setting because it "constricts the vast openess that is the human mind." Thomas also travels around the town of Hamilton and frequents many bars and restraunts which is where he finds his inspiriation on topics. Some scholars have compared his reasoning as a mix between Seinfeld and Freud. Unlike many philosophers, Thomas Leonard still is very religiously active and attends many Saint Greg's functions. Leonard is also known as the "Soda Guy" as he often lectures at the Soda stand during the church's annual carnival. Leonard does not delve into the political world but rather sticks to the more everyday life philosophy. Thomas Leonard is also known arond the town for his unique hairstyle. To him, the hair is a very important tool that many philosophers do not utilize. He embraces his somewhat free flowing hair and says it "enables more airflow around the cranial cavity, which allows for prolonged periods of deep thought." Notable Quotes by Thomas Leonard[edit]"The laws of time mean nothing to the broken chain. Once it is broken, time stands still." "One must work hard in order to rebuild. even if he does not have the proper tools or people." With 80 years in travel, the Globus family of brands – Globus, Cosmos, Monograms and Avalon Waterways - is credited as the largest escorted tour company in the world.[5][6] This tour operator has helped change the face of mass-market tourism in the 20th century.[7] The Globus family of brands began as a small family company with one man and a rowboat in 1928.[8] Antonio Mantegazza, the company’s founder, used his rowboat to transport commercial goods across Lake Lugano in Switzerland. While taking frequent trips across the scenic lake, Antonio began dreaming of a different opportunity … tourism.[6] His small rowboat enterprise grew quickly, motivating a young Antonio to purchase more rowboats while convincing his friends to join him as he expanded his business. Rowboats grew to motorboats, then moved to land with a taxi service. Antonio’s good fortune came in the form of a local sweepstakes from which he won the rights to operate a popular local route from the Swiss national postal and transportation service. To service this route, Antonio purchased his first motorcoach, launching the motorcoach touring service travelers know today.[9] Over time, his entrepreneurial instinct and drive led him to acquire more motorcoaches to transport tourists around the Lake Lugano area in southern Switzerland, ultimately making his dream of owning a company specializing in motorcoach touring come true. Boasting a fleet of 12 coaches, operating local excursions for European tourists in Switzerland, Antonio called his new venture Globus Viaggi.[10][11][6][9] By 1950, Globus Viaggi had grown significantly, featuring 33 coaches with overnight excursions toRome, Venice, the Dolomites and French Riviera. Thanks to their popularity, gradually, the overnight excursions became regularly scheduled tours and grew longer to cover more ground. Later that decade, under the leadership of Werner Albek, Antonio’s business partner, Globus pioneered the concept of Grand European Touring by offering first-class European tours to North Americans.[9] By 1961, the company launched the Cosmos brand, featuring value-priced European touring for the cost-conscious British traveler.[8][9][6] These coach tours were so successful that Cosmos soon introduced another form of travel for the British market – air holiday packages to the sunny destinations of southern Europe. By 1968, just 40 years after the company's launch, Cosmos air holidays became so popular the company formed its own airline, Monarch Airlines. Beginning In 1974, under the flagship of Sergio Mantegazza, son of Antonio and current president of Globus, the company's brands began expanding their markets beyond Great Britain. The 70s was a big decade for the company, introducing travelers to more countries than any other tour operator with packages to Africa, Australia, North and South America, Southeast Asia, Europe and the South Pacific. Also in the early 70s, Globus launched its North American company – Group Voyagers – overseeing U.S. tour operations and the American market for the Globus and Cosmos brands.[6] The entrepreneurial spirit that launched Globus is very much alive in Group Voyagers today. In 2003, the Globus family of brands launched a cruise company, Avalon Waterways, setting a new standard in small ship cruising. Also in 2003, the brand family extended its offerings by creating Monograms, which provides consumers independent travel opportunities with behind-the-scenes experts taking care of vacation details. Through Monograms, travelers get insider information and the services of a Local Host to enhance the experience and journey.[6] Today, the group of companies, consists of more than 30 tourism and aviation businesses, serviced by more than 5,000 professionals. The companies’ escorted and independent vacations offer nearly 10,000 departures and almost 300 different itineraries, covering more than 65 countries on six continents. Combined, the travel brands carry nearly 500,000 passengers in a normal year[12], making the Globus family of brands the leading tour operators worldwide.[6] Accolades[edit]• For eight years in a row, Recommend magazine has selected Globus as the “Best Tour Operator” to Europe and a top finalist for North America, Asia, Latin America and Africa.[13] Historical Timeline[edit][6]

Real Name: Asterius Identity/Class: Human/bovine hybrid of magical origin Native of Crete in the 13th Century B.C.; The general populace of modern-day Earth believe the Minotaur to be a fictional character of mythological origin. Occupation: Predator Affiliations: pawn of Minos; possibly Bova, Man-Bull, Matador, and Toro Rojo Enemies: Theseus; possibly Ikaris Known Relatives: Pasiphae (mother); Bull of Poseiden (father); Minos (foster father); Androgeus, Catreus, Deucalion, Glaucus (Step-brothers); Ariadne, Phaedra (step-sisters); Aliases: Minotaur translates to "Minos' Bull" Base of Operations: The Labyrinth, Crete First Appearance: Eternals II#5 (February, 1986) Powers/Abilities: The Minotaur possesses an uncertain amount of superhuman strength (likely enhanced human) and possibly enhanced durability and olfactory senses. It is a savage, unintelligent creature, with hard, sharp horns on its head. History: (Historical myth) - The Minotaur was the offspring of the Queen Pasiphae and the Bull of Poseiden. Her husband, King Minos, had been given control of the oceans around Crete by the divine right of the sea-god Poseiden. To show his appreciation, Minos promised to sacrifice the first bull he saw to the sea-god, knowing full well that he did not have one. Poseiden then allowed one to appear, a great white one, but Minos kept it as a gift to himself rather than sacrifice it as promised. Angered, Poseiden instructed Eros, the god of love, to smite Pasiphae with a love for the great bull. She instructed Daedalus, the royal artisan, to create a hollow wooden cow that she could enter to admire the bull up close. From within it, she became pregnant by the bull which was later captured as the seventh labor of Hercules and taken to Greece. In the beginning, Pasiphae believed the child she conceived was Minos' and named it Asterius after Minos' step-father (actually, Minos' true father was Zeus, Lord of the gods.) Young Asterius however, was born deformed and slowly grew up to resemble a bull. He never learned to talk, possessed a brutal, more animalistic amount of strength and an intelligence slightly higher than most animals. When Minos learned Asterius' true origin, he locked the freakish monster in the catacombs under the castle, and then commissioned Daedalus to further expand the catacombs into a maze so that Asterius, now known as the Minotaur, could not escape. For several yeras in his war with the Athenians, Minos used the maze of catacombs, now known as the Labyrinth, to imprison his enemies for the Minotaur to kill at his leisure. When King Aegeus of Athens killed Minos' son Androgeus, Minos vengefully forced Athens to pay him an annual tribute of seven youths and seven maidens. These he shut up inside the labyrinth, where they either starved or were devoured. Meanwhile, the legend of the Minotaur spread far throughout ancient Greece, but no one knew of its origins. Finally, the son of Athenian king Aeseus, Theseus, volunteered to go to Crete and sever the control the Cretins had on Athens. Allowing himself to be imprisoned in the Labyrinth with a group of victims, Theseus enlisted the help of Minos' daughter, Ariadne to escape the maze, but only after he had killed the Minotaur and freed his kinsmen. Discovering the mad creature, Theseus fought the bull-man and later ran it through with his sword. The later Greek poets, Plutarch and Apollodarus documented these events, but recent scholars do not acknowledge them as history. (Eternals II#5 (fb)) - While in Minoan Crete, the Eternal known as Ikaris fought a Minotaur in the Labyrinth. (Avengers I#17) - The Avengers encountered a subterranean Minotaur serving the Mole Man, whom they suspected to have been the creature which inspired the legend of the Minotaur. (Iron Man I#24 (fb) - BTS) - Miklos Vrylak's father allegedly used chemicals from Crete, associated with the original Minotaur, in an effort to save his son, which turned Miklos into another Minotaur. (Marvel Year-in-Review 1992) - A Minotaur attended the Springdale branch of the Bar with no Name, enjoying the company of Bova, Man-Bull, Matador, and Toro Rojo.
(Hercules and the Heart of Chaos#2) - Ares unleashed a Minotaur on Hercules at his Warhawks base in South America. The Minotaur slew Hercules' friend, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Roger "Buddy" Juniper, before Hercules killed the Minotaur himself. Comments: Created by ??; adapted in the Marvel Universe by either Stan Lee and Don Heck, or Peter Gillis and Sal Buscema, or Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz. It is difficult to piece together the Marvel History and the that of the legend of the Minotaur. In the Marvel Universe, many of the Eternals have either posed as or been mistaken for characters from Greek mythology. In addition, actual beings from mythology, from gods to monsters actually exist as well. In describing his encounter with the Minotaur, Ikaris said he has been "fighting deviants." So, either: 1. The original Minotaur is a Deviant mutate and the myth/legend just got it wrong 2. Ikaris incorrectly ASSumed he was fighting a Deviant mutate, when in reality it was the creature of myth 3. More than one Minotaur had lived within the Labyrinth. 4. Take your pick. I vote for number two--speaking of which, I have to go... Similarly, it remains uncertain not only whether the creature Ikaris fought was the creature of myth, but also whether the creatures from Avengers I#17, or Hercules: Hearts of Chaos#2, had any connection to the creature form legend. Not only that, but the past history of Ikaris confuses things even more: In the same flashback that relates his conflict with the Minotaur, he relates the story of his son, who was half-human and had no powers. Ikaris--who back then went by a different, unspecified name--built wings for his son. The son one day flew to high without supervision, passed out from lack of oxygen, and fell from the sky to his death. After this, "Ikaris" took his current name in memory of his son (who had been named "Ikaris"). Why is this confusing? Well, my myth knowledge is weak compared to Will, Greg, Nick, and others, but I do remember that in mythology, Icarus' father was Daedalus--the same guy who built the Labyrinth, that contained the Minotaur! So, there's unexplained stuff here, which is likely to remain unexplained. I'm fairly certain that rather than get a definitive answer, we're more likely to get more Minotaurs, many of whom will have been the original. Also, the Iron Man I#24 Minotaur's origins described the obtaining of a chemical from Crete, the very same chemical which had been used to mutate the original Minotaur. That fits with neither myth nor Deviant origin, so who knows? I was originally just going to include all of Will's info as a sub-profile for the Minotaur who fought the Avengers, until I remembered the the appearance from Eternals II#5. With the slim pickins' on images for that character, I decided to include a drawing of Will's, which is derived from a drawing of the Man-Bull, from the OHotMU I. Minos became the most prosperous king of the Mediterranean area, renowned as much for his justness as his power. Along with Aeacus and Rhadamanthus, he became one of the three judges of Hades. The Minoan civilization is named for him. Sources[edit]worldbookonline.com 97.82.155.202 (talk) 21:00, 30 January 2008 (UTC) Articles for creation/2008-01-30[reply]

Kevin Hannan, born on January 22, 1954 in La Marque, Texas; died on January 5, 2008 in Sanok, southern Poland, a United States ethnolinguist and slavicist. Education and Academic Career[edit]Hannan graduated with a BA degree from Stephen F Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He was the first student to receive a doctorate in Slavonic Philology from the latter university. After establishing his family, he earned a living by working for Mills Electrical Contractors, Austin, Texas. In 2002, in a dramatic move, he left the United States, and resumed his research and academic career at the University of Łódź, Łódź in Poland. Research[edit]Hannan stemmed from the milieu of pre-television-era small Texan localities, where the descendants of the original Central European settlers, until recently, preserved their local dialects/languages, commonly referred to as Bohemian (Czech), Moravian, and Silesian. This early experience of multiethnicity and multilingualism, along with family links to Czech Silesia, inspired him to embark on the doctoral research to comprehend the shaping and maintenance of ethnolinguistic and religious difference in the borderland region (that borders on Poland and Slovakia) in the broader context of Central Europe. His wide-ranging findings, he presented in Borders of Language and Identity in Teschen Silesia (1996), which is the most insightful monograph on the ethnolinguistic past and present of the Czech and Polish sections of East Austrian Silesia, variously known as Teschen, Cieszyn, or Těšín Silesia. After resuming his research at the threshold of the 21st century, Hannan widely travelled in Ukraine, Poland, Russia, and the Balkans. He came to the conclusion that civic cosmopolitanism, divorced from localized ethnic values as embodied in long-lasting ethnic groups (often imagined as nations), failed people, leaving them to the anonymous and dehumanizing economic forces of supply and demand. An epitome of such a situation he saw in his native United States, which, according to him, explained a constant increase in genealogical research in the country, observed since the 1970s. In this line of thinking, a person can find one’s identity only in one’s ethnolinguistic ancestry, not in the technical rationalism of law and economy. Hence, the United States or any other settler state could never become a ‘real ethnic country.’ Hannan propounded this thesis with force in Why I Left America: Reflections on History, Culture and Religion / Dlaczego wyjechałem z Ameryki (2003), which he published under a pseudonym, fearful of possible backlash that would bar him permanently from obtaining a position at a Western university. As a positive alternative to the de-ethnicized United States he posed the ethnic values of Poland in his My Poland: Essays on Polish Identity / Moja Polska. Eseje o polskości (2005). Obviously, this choice did not make him blind to the failings of Polish national statehood such as the long-lasting preservation of serfdom and the never-ending quest for ethnolinguistic purity, which led to vast ethnic cleansing in the communist period (1944-1989). He was especially critical of the relentless Polonization of Belarusians, Rusyns (Lemkos), and Ukrainians, who, in his eyes, preserved ‘real Slavic spirituality,’ as encapsulated in Greek Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, and the liturgical language of Church Slavonic (see: Experiencing the Divine Conversation: Liturgical Languages of Eastern Christians in Contemporary Poland, 2005) Hannan chose Poland as his adopted nation-state in preference to the Czech Republic, which he perceived as an example of an overexclusive ethnic nationalism, which led to the 1993 breakup of Czechoslovakia, producing this nation-state and another, Slovakia. However, he always qualified his love of all things Polish by saying that ‘his Poland’ was the southern half of the country skirted by the multilingual, multiethnic, and multiconfessional Carpathians. He wrote lyrically about this area in his collection of poems, Bounties of Collective Memory / Dary zbiorowej pamięci (2006).
