Karkin was a Costanoan language that was spoken in northern California by Costanoans. It became extinct in the 1950s.

During the days of the Gold Rush, many Indians who spoke Costanoan languages were slaves and many were killed. None of the Costanoan languages have been spoken for about 50 years.

Cousin Kevin is a song by the rock band The Who. It appears on Side 2 of the rock opera Tommy. It is about a sadistic young man who is left in charge of Tommy, a deaf, dumb, and blind boy and decides to torture him in various ways, including burning a cigarette on his arm, dunking his head in a full bathtub, and making him "stand in the rain and catch cold so [he] die[s]." The character was played by Paul Nicholas in the 1975 film Tommy (movie).

Heidi Zeigler was a child TV actress in the late 1980s. On Rags To Riches, she played Mickey, the youngest of six orphan girls taken in by businessman Nick Foley to further his own career. This show aired for only two part-seasons in 1987-1988. Just months after Rags To Riches was cancelled, Zeigler landed an almost identical role on Just The Ten Of Us (1988-1990) as younger sister Sherry.

Matthew Smith - Green Party Candidate - Souris Moose Mountain - Canadian 39th Federal Election

[edit]

Birth date: June 7, 1977 Age: 28 Birthplace: Brantford, Ont.

Education: Attended Seneca College for Computers and Business Administration Profession: Computer Systems Administrator

Marital status: Married Name of spouse: Christy

Career background: Has worked in the technology field for over 13 years. Is the systems administrator with Waterflood Sales and Service. Has extensive experience in the fields of project management, outsourcing, library services, customer service, international marketing and distribution, technology management and open source technologies.

Community Activities: Is active in volunteering, community theatre and community development.

Campaign Address: 516 Main St., Oxbow, Sask. S0C 2B0 (306) 483-5210 msmith@greenparty.ca

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions:

Where are you from?

I've grown up, lived and worked all over this country. I've spent time on both coasts, in our major centres and our small towns, before settling with my wife Christy in her home town of Oxbow.

What do you do?

I'm a Computer Systems Administrator in Estevan, with a specialty in technology management and open source.

Why are you running for office?

Because someone should. I think that we need to bring Canada back to Canadians. It's been a while since anyone has had any confidence in the integrity of government. Hopefully through all of us we can work to change this.

Why the Green Party?

Yes, I'm a green party member and candidate. I feel it's the party that most represents my ideals. Although ideally, the Canadian political system wouldn't be controlled by parties at all, but by individuals representing their constituents and country.

The Greens believe in putting individuals back in touch with their government, by making government services more accessible and getting rid of the multiple levels of bureaucracy that exist. No one needs to feel intimidated to walk into their MP's office and bring up an issue they are concerned about. I've been known to do it myself.

The Green Party is financially responsible, socially progressive and environmentally sustainable.

Farmers and the agricultural industries they support are currently in dire straights. We are losing farms and farmers. The farming population is aging and there doesn't seem to be new farmers lining up to take over. It has become more and more expensive to run a farm, gas prices have sky rocketed, profits have dwindled. Most farmers now work second jobs just to maintain the farm. We need to change this!

We are concerned with health, not just health care, education, child welfare, sustaining a productive environment and an ecological balance, and of course Canada and Canadians. We don't just think about hear and now or band aid solutions. We think forward about what we can do for our families, communities and their futures.

Everyone's thinking what we're saying.

MV Flare, a bulk carrier en route from Rotterdam to Quebec, broke in two during severe weather approximately 45 min west of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon on the 16th of January 1998. The stern section of the bulk carrier sank within 30 minutes while the bow remained afloat for days. 21 crew members perished, 4 survived. Some of the crew on the sinking stern section saw the bow of another deep sea vessel appear to approach them, only to realize that it was the separated front half of the Flare - the propellor on the stern section still turning had brought them back toward it.

A Parabelle is a French poetic template that consists of four stanzas of six lines each. In stanzas one through three, the first and second as well as the third and fourth lines must be identical (1=2, 3=4). The fifth and sixth lines then must consist of only the words from the first four lines of their respective stanza. The fourth stanza must contain all the words from the preceding three stanzas.

[edit]

Well, I read this in a poetry compilation book...don't remember the title...it was a poem called "Parabelle for (someone)" and it had the footnote explaining the form. Sorry that I'm not very helpful, but I'm sure that if you check this out you'll find it correct

Borstemans is a Dutch wannabe Geeksta rapper. He is still in Primairy School, and hasn't make any progress on his raps yet. He disses Koekelaar, because he thought that name was funny, but Borstemans isn't very cool either. Also check out [www.helemaalleip.nl]

  • Calling someone a "wannabe" and saying they haven't made any progress in their raps is an attack on that person. Unless he's made a significant impact on the Dutch rap scene (charted hits, signing with a label or multiple TV appearances) he wouldn't get an article anyway because of our music inclusion guidelines. - Mgm|(talk) 11:11, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
