welcome and WP:3RR

[edit]

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia! To begin with, I should link you to Help:Getting started, which has lots of useful information.

Unfortunately, as you may guess I'm writing this message for a reason beyond mere conviality. I specifically need to warn you about one of our rules - "three-revert rule" - which you can find more about at WP:3RR. This is the rule against reverting any page more than three times in a 24-hour period. I count you now having reached this limit on Louise Haigh.

1. initial change 2. revert 1 3. revert 2 4. revert 3.

A further reversion would be in breach of this bright-line rule. Morwen (talk) 15:54, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Louise Haigh. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. BJackJS talk 15:54, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Point taken, will move to the talk page. If no consensus is reached there, yet inconsistencies are present in the arguments, what are the next steps? DrSchrodi (talk) 16:06, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The next steps after seeking consensus on the talk page would be to post at the appropriate notice board or seeking dispute resolution per WP:DR BJackJS talk 16:09, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
