Master System is region-free?
[edit]Hi, I just saw your edit of import gamers, and was wondering if you knew more information on this. From what I heard, the North American Master System was incapable of playing Mark I, Mark II, or Mark III games, and had a different cartridge shape than Japanese Master System games. I do not have a Master System yet, so I have no personal experience in this matter. Could you please elaborate?Alcy 05:30, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, you're quite right. I've expanded on that slightly in the article. Also, I've clarified that it's not the case that Japanese or European/American MD carts are wider, but they're mutually incompatible shapes. Simple "Honey Bee"-style adaptors were available for either shape of slot, and squareing the slot also works either way.boffy_b 08:56, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Your Opinion Please!
[edit]Hi, Boffy
For quite some time I have been uploading multiple images of the same subject as a Featured Picture Candidate, and, unknown (until recently) to me, this was causing considerable problems in the promoting/not promoting stage of the Featured Picture Candidates.
Recently Solipsist informed me of the problem and came up with the suggestion of holding my own semi Featured Picture Candidates page.
I would like you and several others (User:Sj, User:Solitude, User:Solipsist, User:Chris 73) to be the people who vote in this.
I would greatly appreciate your opinions on the photos.

Christophe(r) Lambert
[edit]I changed all references to Christopher Lambert to "Christophe Lambert" a few months ago, as that is his real name(although in the peak of his career he was usually credited Christopher), did you change it back to Christopher on Highlander for a specific reason, or did you think Christophe was a typo?
Regards
Boffy b 21:59, 2004 Oct 4 (UTC)
A bit of both. You're right; I did think it was a typo. But I'm also thinking that 99% of the people who ever heard of him know him as Christopher Lambert. This is a quibble, though....
Incidentally, there is (or was) a typo on the Christophe Lambert page: you had "sometimes rendered as Christoper Lambert" -- I corrected this to "sometimes rendered as Christopher Lambert"
(Linguistic corollary to Murphy's Law: You will inevitably make a spelling error, grammatical error or typo in any post complaining about a spelling error, grammatical error or typo)

Redirect you created at "Videopac G7200"
[edit]Hi, you created a redirect from Videopac G7200 to Philips Videopac G7200, but there is currently no article at Philips Videopac G7200. (It may have been deleted since the redirect was created.) Wikipedia policy is to get rid of redirects to non-existent pages, and someone listed Videopac G7200 on WP:RfD If you want the redirect to stay, you will need to create something at Philips Videopac G7200 (even a stub will do), or else the redirect will go away. If you do create the target, you don't have to do anything on WP:RfD (we'll eventually notice the target is there), but if you do, just delete the entry for Videopac G7200. Thanks! Noel (talk) 04:42, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I'm sure I had some master plan to fill in all the pages I made redirects to, but that was months ago and college has taken up most of my time since. Feel free to get rid of them. Boffy b 12:39, 2004 Nov 29 (UTC)

Morwen showed us that picture on IRC, we asked if it was alright to

"Boffy"
[edit]I'm just wondering where you got your nickname from. I am also known as Boffy and its an unusual nickname and I'm surprised someone else has it.
Yours
Boffy(the other one)
- You don't seem to be registered, so I'l reply here. I used to wear my hair in a boff, more correctly it grew of its own accord into what was apparently called a boff, and one of the many names slung my way for this was "boffy the barber slayer", which I quite liked, but it was too long for most messageboards, etc., so I shortened it to boffy_b in honour of boggy_b, one of the worms from Worms. You?
- The original boffy_b(always lowercase) 21:30, 2005 Mar 22 (UTC)
In primary school one of my friends read a book called Boffy and the teacher eater. The character "boffy" had the real name "Michael Smith" which happens to be my real name. That lead my friends to give me that nickname. It isnt used much by people talking to me in person but I use it most of the time online.
- Woah! It is now my aim in life to find a copy of that book. It's kinda weird to meet another boffy, of course the real question is, where did the author take THAT boffy's name from? boffy_b 22:55, 2005 Mar 23 (UTC)

Anti-climb paint
[edit]Hi,
This is about the edit you made by deleting reference to UK from anti-climb paint. I know that prima facie it looks biased and POV, but I have found that its true. I came to this conclusion by extensive searching the web (using Google). I encourage you to confirm it yourself. I will leave the decision to reinstate it or not to you ask ask you to do only if you are 100% convinced. I did it because I was. A quick google search would confirm this. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 10:34, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- I just thought that the London reference didn't represent a global viewpoint. Also, it didn't ring true, as there's a lot of anti-climb paint here oop north. boffy_b 13:32, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Could I post one of your images into a personal website ?
[edit]Hi man,
I am not much sure, but I think you are the rights owner of the image called something like IBM_PC_5150.jpg
I'd like to put it into a personal webpage I'm working now, better said it would be a very reduced image of that.
I haven't found another way to contact you, I don't know either whether this wikipage is intended to that purpose; if not, I'm sorry.
I have a doubt about Creative Commons licencing issues, that's is: supposing your agreement, Would I have to licence the whole webpage accordingly with the Creative Commons and those conditions that the image comes with?
Best regards,
Daniel
P.s. I'm not registered yet in the Wikipedia. You can mail me to 4.magarzo @ gmail.com
Graphics Lab
[edit]I saw your name listed on Wikiproject Illustration or the list of graphic artists, and I thought I'd let you know that a Graphics Lab has been created on EN. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! The infrastucture is already in place, and now we need participants. :) --Zantastik talk 00:35, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Join us in the "Terminator" Article discussion page...please...
[edit]If you are still a member of Wikipedia, please join user:TomTheHand and myself in a discussion of which terms should apply to the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Infiltration Unit in its various forms.
To be as neutral as possible, I will relate the views of TomTheHand as well as my own, as accurately as posible:
Tom believes that the term "Android" should apply to all of the incarnations of the Model 101, from Endoskeleton all the way up to the gestalts of flesh-and-blood and the combat chassis played by Arnold in the movies. He furthermore believes that the term "cyborg" does not apply to any of the Terminator's forms.
Thanos777 -myself -thinks that the Terminator is worthy of multiple appelations depending on which configuration (read: Type/Series) the Model 101 is configured as.
That is to say, I believe that the "Base" Model 101, just the endoskeleton with no cosmetic enhancements, is best defined as either a Humanoid Robot, Anthropomorphic Robot, or simply a Robot.
When the Model 101 is outfitted as a Type/Series 600, the endoskeleton covered by rubber skin, I believe that the Terminator is then most correctly classified as an "android."
And finally, when the Model 101 is equipped as a Type/Series 800/850, the endoskeleton with the living flesh-and-blood covering, I believe that the most correct term for the creatre is "cyborg."
Again, I respectfully ask you to come back to the "Terminator" Article and lend your input; those of us who are there in the Article's discussion page are engaging in a lot of back-and-forth regarding the different terms and the disagreements as to when they should be used.
Hope to "see" you there soon!!!

Fair use rationale for Image:Castle master-ega.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Castle master-ega.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Unspecified source for Image:50p-4minutemile.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:50p-4minutemile.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Fair use rationale for Image:Centraltv-90logo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Centraltv-90logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Save_Us_229 00:17, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:BBC Logo 1997-Present.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:BBC Logo 1997-Present.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:51, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:10p-2001.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:10p-2001.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
The following images also have this problem:
- Image:5pound queenmum100-reverse.jpg
- Image:5pound queenmum100-obverse.jpg
- Image:5pound millenium1999-reverse.jpg

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Grossmufti-inspecting-ss-recruits.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit]Hello,
I am an associate producer on a piece for NOVA, the documentary series on PBS. We found a photo of an IBM PC on your page on Wikimedia that would be ideal for one image in our documentary.
It can be found here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:IBM_PC_5150.jpg
I saw that you have licensed this photo for public use, but that you have added a "Share Alike" clause to the photo. I would really love to use this photo, but I would need exemption from the Share Alike clause (PBS cannot legally use Share Alike images).
It is an educational, non-profit project, and we would give you full credit for your photo at the end of the episode if you so desire. However, we would need you to sign a materials release for the photo. We would greatly like to use it. If you email me at list.tobey@gmail.com, I can send one to you.
We would really love to use this photo. The release does not assume the copyright from you, but would simply say that you are giving us permission to use the photo.
Thank you so much!
