Hi Alexius08, I am writing to understand why you suspect that this wiki page warrants a speedy deletion. The content used in the page was a template and for other users to add/remove/change. I don't believe the wording nor the links are advertising this product or trying to sell this service. Please can you provide additional information so I can amend and create this page again?

Please roll back your edit to the Gary Brackett article. Link meets the a link qualifies as "an official page of the article's subject" per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links#What_should_be_linked in addition to other criteria outlined on that page. Could possibly fit better at the bottom as an external link but this is not necessary imo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.182.50.148 (talk) 08:46, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Arfana mallah

[edit]

Hello Alexius08. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Arfana mallah, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 08:05, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting vandalism

[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for the great job you are doing reverting vandalism. However, I thought I should tell you that one of your revisions to the article Dell actually reverted a clean fix by ClueBot back to the vandalized version. Cheers, Turgan Talk 11:47, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that revert resulted from some confusion over the contents of that page. However, that's just a couple of mistakes for over a hundred reverts. Alexius08 (talk) 11:51, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Mariwan Kanie

Hello Alexius08. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mariwan Kanie, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: popular author is an assertion of importance. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 14:32, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article might assert that the subject is notable, but the references are too weak to back up that assertion. Can I proceed with a prod or AfD? Alexius08 (talk) 14:40, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Joseph T. Carew

[edit]

Hello Alexius08, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Joseph T. Carew - a page you tagged - because: Owner of a notable business indicates importance. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. decltype (talk) 21:23, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Stanley Knowles School. I do not think that Stanley Knowles School fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because stating that it is a school in a particular town is plenty of context for anyone who wished to do research on the subject, or to know what is begin covered. Please re-read the speedy deletion criteria. Thank you. I request that you consider not re-tagging Stanley Knowles School for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 22:39, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging of Damago Soto

[edit]

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Damago Soto. I do not think that Damago Soto fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because "allegedly discovered the key to interpreting Aztec writings" is a clear claim of significance, it is even backed by a citation. The reliability of the source might be challenged at an AfD, and if kept the article should be expanded, but this is way beyond the bounds of a speedy.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Damago Soto for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 22:46, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember that WP:CSD says "Administrators should take care not to speedy delete pages or media except in the most obvious cases." Please also read WP:CSD#Non-criteria. It may be that case that an article tagged for speedy deletion is evaluated by only two people, the tagger and the reviewing admin. Therefore both of these people must be extra cautious to tag/delete only clear cut cases. Speedy deletion bypasses consensus, so it is only acceptable in cases where there is pre-established consensus -- that is, the intentionally quite narrow criteria. Please keep this is mind in future. DES (talk) 22:51, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Crosslight Software. I do not think that Crosslight Software fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because "pioneered the electrical and optical simulation of laser diodes in commercial TCAD product" is a claim of significance. I request that you consider not re-tagging Crosslight Software for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES (talk) 23:05, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember that A7 says "The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source." and "If the claim's credibility is unclear, you can improve the article yourself, propose deletion, or list the article at articles for deletion." Thank you. DES (talk) 23:07, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

editing power supply calculator

[edit]

Hi, I added the calculator on the power supply page which you removed. The calculator is the best, most accurate and most up to date calculator in the internet so I have no idea why you removed it. It is absolutely free to use it, does the site look commercial? I dont understand, the other calculators linked are also highly commercial, extreme outervision for example, if you see this way. No idea why you want to keep this information from being published by deleting it. Help me understand please :) Regards (Prophetchris (talk) 01:04, 2 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Wikipedia Philippine Chapter in Philippine Youth Congress

[edit]

I am glad to announce to you that we will be debuting as an organization at the Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology on September 14 to 17, 2010 at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Jojit will be Wikimedia Philippines resource speaker at the second day of the conference at the UP Film Center. He will be speaking about Wikipedia and how it revolutionizes the World Wide Web. That will be at 9:00 to 10:00 am. We will also set up a booth at the UP Bahay ng Alumni and we will showcase our existing and future projects. We encourage you to participate in our first major project. We have prepared food and refreshments for you. Please let us know so that we can enlist you to our delegation.--Exec8 (talk) 18:34, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invitation. Actually, I went there on the first day together with my classmates and some of my professors. Too bad that Wiki's events were scheduled on the later days (although I've visited the booth). Sorry for the late reply. I've got too much stuff on my hands right now (various school projects, incoming final exams, etc.). Alexius08 (talk) 04:54, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This recent edit, explained here puzzles me greatly on two counts.

  • Prior to your edit the article asserted "One web site ... has said, 'Malaysian claim is presumably based ...'", citing a web page[1] in support. You removed the supporting cite, leaving the quote unsupported, which seems to flout WP:V. (the cited web page actually didn't support the quote, but that's another issue)
  • Your stated reason for the removal of the cite was essentially that it is your opinion that the source might be biased. This seems to flout WP:DUE. The cited web page didn't look biased to me at a quick look, but as I understand DUE, possible bias perceived by a WP editor on the part of a source considered generally reliable on the topic isn't an acceptable reason for censoring the viewpoint expressed by that source.

Anyhow, I've redone the subsection at issue to address the subsection topic more directly, citing a different source. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 05:31, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, why I can't insert the page link into "barbecue grill", this is a professional article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Williammaxwell20x (talkcontribs) 11:15, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have inserted the link to the "References" section, which is reserved for links to web pages that are used by the article as references. Although it would be better suited as an entry at the "External links" section, its current contents are links to a list of links related to this article. I suggest you submit your link there instead. Alexius08 (talk) 12:03, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please explain this. And the message left on the IP talk page (User talk:107.191.108.68) saying that the edit appeared to be a test. Obviously it was not. 107.191.108.68 (talk) 03:26, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I initially suspected that the file didn't exist since, at that time, I could only see the source code of the page and not the page itself. The filename also appeared to be suspicious for having an unnecessary amount of random numbers near the end. It turns out to be a real file. For that, I'd like to apologize. Request on 08:32:43, 27 October 2014 for assistance on AfC submission by Jeremyhowick

[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for reviewing the page I created: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Oxford_Centre_for_Evidence-Based_Medicine.

The initial reviewer comments from 8 months ago was that the page read more like an advertisement. This was a good comment as there were too many internal links to the Centre website and not enough links to external (neutral) sources.

However now the entry makes the number of (a) high-impact, peer reviewed publications in top tier medical journals, (b) the number of times Centre academics are cited in the press, and (c) the number of people the Centre teaches (all of which has been documented), I find it somewhat difficult to believe that it is not worthy of a Wikipedia entry. And the accusation that it reads more like an advertisement than a neutral entry also seems somewhat unfair: any entry is, to some degree, an advertisement.

With that in mind, can you please provide more specific advice about what changes to this Wikipedia-worthy entry pass the review process?

Thanks again for all your help,

Jeremy

Hi Alexius, Thank you for reviewing the Shift4 Corporation page - I was wondering why the page wasn't approved and if you could give me some tips to fix the problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Ecymerman (talk) 23:51, 29 October 2014 (UTC) Hello, Alexius, I see that you are the editor for the General Photonics submission. The last revision was rejected due to "unreliable" sources. The article lists over twenty technical papers and patents with correct links to the publications. In the guidelines, I read that connections to publications and outside references were important. Have I not attached or listed them correctly? This is a simple article about an inventor and his company and a list of his patents and publications. I am lost as what more to add. Please provide more specific suggestions. Bill PenceBpofhv (talk) 16:38, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello Alexius08. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).[reply]

Proposed deletion of Thus (disambiguation)

[edit]

The article Thus (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unnecessary disambiguation page. Logical consequence fails WP:DABMENTION and there is nothing at Thu (disambiguation) that would be plural. A hatnote can be used for the word.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Tavix (talk) 18:12, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. I've saved my draft in full here, and submitted an edit request at Talk:Pitney Bowes to update the infobox and add the proposed "Overview" section. Given my conflict of interest, I will not edit the article directly and seek uninvolved editors to review the draft for accuracy, neutrality, and verifiability. Since you updated the article recently, I was wondering if this is this something you might be willing to help with? Thanks for your consideration. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
