Why is it named after Fritz Hollings

A peek at Wiki's article about the center's namesake shows:

In 1981, Hollings apologized to fellow Democrat Howard Metzenbaum after Hollings referred to him as the "senator

from B'nai B'rith" on the floor. Metzenbaum, who was Jewish, raised a point of personal privilege and Hollings's remarks were stricken from the record.^[1] Stephen Solarz was a proud Jew. Nuts240 (talk) 09:40, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
