3DO version cheats[edit]
To start the game with cheats, the player needs to input .EVORGRAH (a dot and Professor Hargrove's name spelled backwards) for the name. The player will hear a harp sound effect (also used for the pick-up sound for non-damaging health orbs) and see a flashing purplish blue light, indicating that the code works.[1]
Level codes[edit]
At this point, the player is then required to insert another name, which the player can use to input specific cheat codes, starting with ..xx, xx being the internal code for any specific level below.

For example, if the player wants to go to Great Hall: Robert's Welcome, the name/cheat code to input would be ..GH.
Key codes[edit]
Following the level code, the player can also specify numbers for specific keys. For multiple keys, these codes should be placed in a numerical order.
| Key | Number code |
|---|---|
| Green-yellow key | 0 |
| RSVP (listed as green-blue on HUD) | 1 |
| Purple key | 2 |
| Blue key | 3 |
| Yellow key | 4 |
| Yellow-orange key | 5 |
| Orange key | 6 |
| Red key | 7 |
| Violet key | 8 |
| Green key | 9 |
For example, if the player wants to go to Great Hall: Robert's Welcome with a green-yellow key, the name/cheat code to input would be ..GH0. Any following alphabetical codes can be placed after 0.
Starting weapon codes[edit]
Following the level code and/or the key code (if specified), the player can specify a code for any additional starting weapon.
| Additional starting weapon | Alphabet code |
|---|---|
| Dual pistols (includes 30 bullets) | D |
| Shotgun (includes 5 shells) | S |
| Tommygun (includes 30 bullets) | T |
| Flamethrower (includes 20 gasoline ammo) | F |
For example, if the player wants to go to Great Hall: Robert's Welcome with dual pistols, the name/cheat code to input would be ..GHD. The 0 key code for the green-yellow key can be placed between GH and D, thus ..GH0D.
Show map coordinates[edit]
To specify map coordinates on the lower left corner of the screen in-game, Q needs to be placed after the level code. For example, if the player wants to go to Great Hall: Robert's Welcome with this cheat, the name/cheat code to input would be ..GHQ.
Vessel codes[edit]
Following the level code and/or the key code (if specified), the player can specify a code for any vessel. For multiple vessels, these codes should be placed in an alphabetical order.
| Key | Alphabet code |
|---|---|
| Heart/Yellow vessel (genocide bomb) | R |
| Nose/Yellow-orange vessel (map loot) | N |
| Arms/Orange vessel (8x damage) | A |
| Hands/Red vessel (auto map) | H |
| Eyes/Purple vessel (unlimited ammo) | Y |
| Ears/Violet vessel (map hazards) | E |
| Legs/Blue vessel (invisibility) | L |
| Mouth/Green-blue vessel (map secrets) | M |
| Chest/Green vessel (200% health) | C |
| Back/Green-yellow vessel (invulnerable) | B |
For example, if the player wants to go to Great Hall: Robert's Welcome with the green (chest) vessel, the name/cheat code to input would be ..GHC. The 1 key code for the RSVP can be placed between GH and C, thus ..GH1C.
[edit]
Following the level code and/or the key code (if specified), the player can specify one of these codes for the starting health (by default, the players starts with 50% health).
| Health status | Alphabet code |
|---|---|
| Start with 75% health | W |
| Start with 100% health | V or X |
| Start with invincibility (health always at 1%, never increases nor decreases) | I |
For example, if the player wants to go to Angela's Garden of Secrets with a full 100% health, the name/cheat code to input would be either ..HMV or ..HMX. The 9 key code for the green key can be placed between HM and V (or X), thus ..HM9V or ..HM9X.
Combining codes[edit]
Up to thirteen of the above cheat codes can be combined in a particular order after specifying a level code (numerical if the player wants any key, then alphabetical elsewhere). For example, if the player wants to go to Tess's Room: Who Dunnit with the RSVP, blue key, and yellow key, as well as an orange (arms) vessel, green-yellow (back) vessel, green (chest) vessel, dual pistols, and invincibility, the name/cheat code to input would be ..TR123ABCDI, at a total of seven cheat codes.
Game Guru cheats[edit]
The Game Guru utility disc allows players to apply cheats to any 3DO game. The following cheats can be applied to Killing Time.[2]

Windows/Macintosh version cheats[edit]
There are two kinds of internal cheats in this version: starting name cheats and in-game cheats.
Starting name cheats[edit]
| Starting name | Effect |
|---|---|
| JOHN WOO or CHOW YUN FAT | Starts with dual pistols with full ammo (200) |
| MAD DOG or CRYPTO | Starts with a flamethrower with full ammo (240) |
| STRYDER | Starts with five Ankhs |
| EDGE | Starts with 28 Molotov cocktails |
| BURGER | Starts with a shotgun with full ammo (50) |
| GARY LAKE | Starts with 5% health and only a crowbar, renders the player unable to pick any items |
- Mad Dog and Crypto are both nicknames of Michael Lutynski, a Logicware programmer.
- Stryder is the nickname of Tristan Anderson, this version's level designer and lead tester.
- Gary Lake (now Gary Lake-Schaal) is a Studio 3DO programmer, also featured in the "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful..." Easter egg texture of this version, where a defaced photo of his face is imposed to a dungball/crawler sprite.
Contrary to some claims, the Mad Dog cheat does not give the player a double-barreled shotgun, as the weapon is in fact not available in the game.
In-game cheats[edit]
These cheats can be typed during gameplay, similar to vanilla Doom cheats.[3] Additionally, the idkfa cheat's negative effects can also be found in other contemporary FPS games, although which negative effect it gives varies between other games.
| Cheat code | Effect |
|---|---|
| iamapoophead | God mode |
| scoobysnack | 200% health |
| opensezme | All keys |
| whoopdang | All weapons and ammo |
| bodybags | All vessels |
| idkfa | Kills the player |
Again, contrary to other claims, stryder, crypto, and garylake are not valid in-game cheats; they only function as starting name cheats.
