How Spot Works

Quoting Overview

At the core of Spot is quoting - a lightweight process that powers how our products are offered and tracked. It enables dynamic, real-time pricing and coverage generation for your customers. Through quoting, Spot can facilitate:

• Dynamic calculation of the price of Spot coverage based on customer and product information.
• Remote performance management of the cancellation program.
• Reductions in the ongoing maintenance associated with your Spot integration.

Here’s how it works at a high level:

1. Request a quote from us when the page where you present Spot loads.
2. Display that quote to your customer.
3. If the customer accepts, confirm the quote at checkout.
4. Customers receive a confirmation email and can request a refund through Spot if needed.
5. When customers request refunds, we send your system a webhook, so you can cancel the booking on your end and re-sell the inventory.

Getting Started

The first step is to decide how you’d like to integrate Spot - through our API, SDKs, or prebuilt widget - and how you want our products to appear in your checkout flow.

Our team will help you scope the right setup and provide everything you need to get up and running quickly.

Integration Methods

There are three main ways to connect with Spot’s quoting engine:

• API: Direct quoting endpoints for full flexibility and control.
• SDKs: Prebuilt integrations for React and Vue (with others available on request).
• Widget: The fastest way to start. While you’ll still need to handle checkout logic, using our widget takes care of mapping quote data and simplifies your integration.

Front-End Display

Most partners start here, since this is what your customers will actually see at checkout:

• Add-On (Spot's Widget): Our prebuilt UI component displays the offer with minimal development work, styled to fit your brand.
• Add-On (Custom UI): Customers can opt in through your own UI design. This is useful if you want to have full control over the UI and/or enable more granular opt-in options.
• Bundled: Refund protection is built into the purchase price, and customers choose between a refundable and a non-refundable option.
