Inspiration

As an educational community with people of different professions, nationalities, and experience levels on web3, Bellum Galaxy focuses on a fair future for all. This goal cannot be achieved if we don't get to the root of multiple other problems: Piracy. As gamers, entrepreneurs, students, and citizens, this matter completely influences our lives. So, Chainlink gives us the tools to build amazing things. It is our duty to lead the charge and take down the big boss of this dungeon.

What it does

Trident not only transfers the property of the game or software that the user is buying. It also protects companies that Publish it. By integrating our project, any Publisher will be able to:

  • Maximize profits by eliminating piracy;
  • Receive royalties over every secondary selling;
  • Explore new distribution ways to lure new players, like collectible NFT-Keys with rarities and special conditions.
  • Focus on development and user experience. Trident, using blockchain and Chainlink technology will take care of the uniqueness and distribution of the software.

But, as mentioned earlier, it's not a win for one side. The users will have:

  • Property of each game, software bought;
  • Once it's not finished. The user can sell it in our marketplace and look for another game. Or even use the money for personal matters.
  • By removing piracy, the prices will also drop. Trident will make the software more accessible to everyone.

Last, but no less important, we ensure clean and spontaneous opinions over our games by tracking social media opinions about that specific game and converting it into a rating that is displayed in every game. This way we avoid manipulation and corrupted systems that buy avaliations. To be completely transparent, the user can verify through our site, the comments our AI buddy found, analyzed, and processed into our ratings.

How we built it

We built it by uniting Web2 and Web3 technologies. We think that there exists a big misunderstanding over blockchain technology. Most people think blockchain will completely remove the previous infra and take its place. However, it's not true. Both of them will, and thrive together by maximizing each other. Trident is one way to show how. We use the Chainlink function to keep our launcher and other executables system fully in sync, the Chainlink automation to maintain our ratings up to date, renewing averages every day, and Chainlink CCIP to provide our users a way to buy our software in any EVM compatible, not paying nothing more for it. Every time a new NFT-Key is sold, our launcher will be ready to give our user the experience of his life. And, at the end of the day, he does not even need to know Web3 words or how all of this is running on the back. Because as nowadays, he will be accessing our launcher and site by using an e-mail.

Challenges we ran into

Although we are a team of five people, we don't have senior experience and only two participated in a hackathon before. So, Integrating technologies it's a little bit tricky. Doing it in our free time it's even more. Also, this is not a matter that is talked about too much. To find research, articles, and data in general is tough. Most of them are decades old, which makes it difficult to build good and solid documentation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of getting to the end, together. Working through the night on many occasions to get the job done. Everyone did their part, and everyone contributed and many other features were born after it. Today we have an MVP, tomorrow will be a more robust one.

What we learned

We learned that together we can go higher. Hackathons are a great way to push ourselves forward and extract innovation from people. For the part non-web3 of our team, this was a completely new experience that opened their eyes to a new horizon of possibilities. Even those who are part of the Bellum Galaxy community and receive direct info about the web3 ecosystem have a different view of it now. Start doing things clears our minds and reveals great potential.

What's next for Trident

Trident's next steps are to refine our integration, reinforce security measures, and start building new features. Our goal is to abstract complexity to facilitate mass adoption. For the web3 users, we plan to develop a swapping mechanism by integrating Chainlink Price Feeds for users to just select any DEX-tradable token, and we do the rest receiving it in a CCIP-compatible one. It also can be achieved by integrating already well-designed and functional BUILD protocols like Concero and others. Trident will also improve some of the features already implemented as the royalties and lock period systems to cover the Publisher side of the business. The NFT-Key tiers and Chainlink VRF are great tools for publishers to create marketing campaigns and foment their communities to increase revenue.
