Getting through the starting process…

Getting through the starting process took 3 months and to the depths of depression and anxiety. Of course the treatment is a success because they break you down to nothing to get your first appointment. My first appointment was cancelled with no notice to me. I’m still trying

Rachel Huso signed my death certificate.

Rachel Huso, who is not even an actual doctor, stopped my treatment after 6 months of Spravato, citing one study that showed potential for long-term nerve damage. I had never felt happiness until 3 months into treatment. Now Greenbrook, specifically the inhumane Rachel Huso, is taking that away. Why? It has nothing to do with my insurance; I’ve never had a drug problem, and I don’t drink or smoke. The only reason she provided was the one study that had the potential for nerve damage. Doing extensive research both before I started treatment and now after this - even the drug manufacturer said long-term treatment is individualized and between the patient and provider. The use of this drug is so new that there is no long-term data to show one thing or the other, except that this medication works in saving lives from suicide and suicidal ideation. Rachel Huso signed my death certificate. I wailed in front of her Why would she do this? I begged her to call my doctors, therapist, and psychiatrist. She refused, saying it was her signature on the prescription. I pointed out that it's also her name on my death certificate. At no time did Rachel explain to me that this was not a long-term treatment and that she would be stopping after six months. During my successful treatment, I was able to stop taking 2 Wellbutrin, 1 Abilify, and 3 Ativan a day. I replaced 6 daily pills with 1 nasal spray every week, and Rachel is concerned about my nerve damage. She isn't human. She should go work for ICE, being so cold and heartless. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND GREENBROOK. Try ActivePath, they were my first option, Greenbrook was just closer and more convenient. Rachel Huso is a joke of a doctor and an even worse psychiatrist. Not once, ONCE, did she ever check in on my well-being or ask how I was doing. During treatment, I never saw her, except for the intake appointment. The next time I saw her was 6 months later, when I begged her not to stop my treatment. She is disgusting.

Beware of false and misleading business practices

I had a very similar experience to the other review posted about a "free consultation". This is not free! Be aware.

They have you schedule an initial call, then they have you fill out a mountain of paperwork and then have another call to review in minute detail everything you already shared in the exhaustive paperwork. This is a complete waste of time. Then you are advised, you have to meet with the Dr. via Zoom to be "approved". So that means another step in this process. Reminder: this is all under the guise that it's free. No one mentions fees except what the treatment costs would be if you are approved and you decide to move forward.

I met with the Dr. William Bache who came onto the call and his 1st question was to me...what questions do you have? I said I really don't have any since I me with Courtney two times already. Do you have questions for me? What are we supposed to do in this call? This Dr. had a not so great attitude and I knew in that moment that I did not want to spend every day of my life (4-5 x/week for treatment) for months at a time under his care. It prompted me to ask what to expect in a session and that is where I discovered that they do not scan your brain for any before and after treatment results to indicate new activity stimulated in your brain, which is how it is marketed. He said this is done by a self-assessment questionnaire. I knew this was not the treatment or the facility for me at this time. I don't have the time or the ~$1000.00 (which is just my $30/copy each visit) to waste on this.

So several weeks later I was notified that my insurance finally approved the treatment and I could begin. But as mentioned above, I had decided it was not for me.

I was shocked to then get a bill where this Initial Diagnostic Evaluation was billed to my insurance company for $300.00 for my time with the Dr. which amounted to about 5 minutes. I was left with a $15 copy after what my insurance covered but was adamant in not paying it as it was very misleading.

I emailed Courtney the coordinator and she advised in writing that I should not have been charged since I filled out all the paperwork and they only charged people who did not fill out the paperwork. She directed me to the billing department. I called an filed a complaint and asked that my copay be waived but after several months and making no progress with Glaiza in billing or her manager who I spoke with 2 times - I finally gave up.

I decided to write this review to alert others. I would hate to see you with a large bill for nothing. My next step is to contact the BBB. This is false and misleading business practices.

Head my advice and look elsewhere for your own piece of mind

Massive bill for a “free consultation”

My husband and I visited the Cary, North Carolina clinic in January. We were there for an initial consultation to determine if this company would approve me for the treatment sessions. There was no treatment or counseling given. It was purely a preliminary visit.

From the moment we walked in, we were treated poorly. We were asked to fill out documentation while music was blaring. Neither of us could concentrate on the paperwork and when we asked for them to turn it down and explained we couldn’t concentrate, they refused based on “patient confidentiality.” There was not a single other patient in the waiting room or in the office the entire time we were present.

The young man that came out to take the paperwork didn’t introduce himself and was aloof and rude. He also refused to help with the noise level.

The psychiatrist eventually came out to retrieve us, and was offensive when we both stood to walk back with her. For my safety and to help my anxiety, my husband always accompanies me to any type of office visit. She refused to allow him back to the consultation room. She took me back to the room and sat across from me seemingly confused about why I was there. In fact, she asked “why are you here today?” I told her, “they told me it’s part of the consultation to approve me for the treatments.” To which she responded, “ Who is they?” I had a feeling she had never done this before and it was making me nervous.

I explained further that a representative from Greenbrook called me and said I had to meet with her to determine if I was eligible for treatments. I was told this was part of the free consultation involved prior to beginning treatments at their location. Eventually she asked if I still wanted “that man” to come back. I said “he’s my husband and yes.” He told me later that when she came to get him, she said “I don’t know who you are but if you want to come back then you can.” (Who acts like that?!)

When she was finished speaking with us, she located the young man from earlier. He was chatting with a young woman that also seemed to be an employee. Neither introduced themselves at that point either. They had us stand in the hallway while they tried to figure out where to take us. Again, it felt like this was “Candid Camera” or something - I truly felt like this was the first time they ever had a patient in the office. They acted very spacey and strange.

Eventually the couple took us in a room and, while he asked further personal questions, the female stood in the doorway gaping at the three of us. I don’t know if she was an employee. Maybe she was in training. Maybe he was in training. We have no idea. Neither of them acted like they had ever seen a patient before.

After a series of additional exchanges that left both of us feeling like maybe these people were on something, we were eager to leave and we refused to schedule any treatment sessions with them. We felt uncomfortable with the three (2?) staff of Greenbrook that we met.

The moment we left their office and we were alone, my husband and I were on the same page - we would never want to receive care there. Something was off.

Because it is personal, I don’t want to go into intricate details about what else us made us uncomfortable. Despite letting them know that we were not going to sign up for sessions with their company, we continued to receive emails from them. They finally tapered off, but now I have received a substantial invoice from Greenbrook as if I have attended sessions there.

I have called and sent emails multiple times and no one has bothered to return them. Somehow, they believe we owe $200 when this was a free prior consultation. It concerns me that there are no reviews yet on Trustpilot. I felt an obligation to document this because there is a complete absence of customer support regarding billing and problems with their office.

Despite being a large company with supposedly an extensive network of locations across the country, I have had no help from their staff to cancel this inaccurate bill.

As a sidenote, I selected a different company for my treatments since there was a lack of knowledge, compassion, and awareness at Greenbrook.
In comparison, the company I actually use has never sent an invoice even close to $200 because their free consultation was exactly as advertised. Free.

Please be cautious. I don’t want anyone else to go through this.
