Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the CertPilot website, dashboard, free public tools, reports, alerts, and related services.

Last updated · September 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using CertPilot, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What CertPilot provides

CertPilot is an IT governance evidence platform for businesses, including lean IT teams, MSPs, and agencies. It runs automated checks on public technical signals, stores registers your team maintains, and generates evidence reports from both. It also provides free public tools. Reports are operational evidence; they are not compliance certification, legal advice, or an audit.

3. Eligibility and business use

CertPilot is intended for business and professional use. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the service is lawful and authorized.

4. Accounts

To use certain parts of CertPilot, you may need to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activities that happen under your account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service. For example, you must not:

  • use CertPilot for unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent activity,
  • interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure,
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts or systems,
  • use the free public tools in a way that creates abuse or excessive automated load,
  • reverse engineer, scrape, or exploit the service beyond lawful use, or
  • use CertPilot to violate the rights or privacy of others.

6. Checks, registers, and reports

CertPilot's checks use public technical data, such as certificate metadata, DNS records, domain registration (RDAP) data where available, email-authentication DNS records, and official vendor status feeds. Registers contain information your team enters or imports.

Check results, alerts, scores, and reports are provided for operational convenience. You remain responsible for reviewing issues and making decisions based on your own judgment.

7. Free trial and subscriptions

CertPilot may offer a free trial and paid subscription plans. Access to features may depend on your current plan, account status, and billing status.

If you choose a paid plan, billing is handled through a third-party payment provider. Subscription charges, renewals, cancellations, and billing details are governed by the payment flow presented at checkout.

8. Payments and refunds

Fees are charged according to the selected plan. Unless otherwise stated, subscription fees are billed in advance and are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we decide to provide a refund in our discretion.

9. Availability and changes

We may update, improve, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or error-free operation.

10. Third-party services

CertPilot relies on third-party providers for hosting, authentication, payments, email delivery, and infrastructure. We are not responsible for outages or failures caused by third-party services outside our reasonable control.

11. Intellectual property

CertPilot and its underlying software, branding, text, design, and related materials are owned by CertPilot or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

12. Your data

You are responsible for the information you submit into the service, including domains, client references, and register records about people, accounts, assets, vendors, and access. You confirm that you have the right to use that information with CertPilot, including any personal data about your staff or clients.

13. Disclaimers

CertPilot is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CertPilot will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, goodwill, data, or business opportunities arising out of or related to the use of the service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising out of or related to the service will not exceed the amount you paid to CertPilot in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to CertPilot if you violate these terms, misuse the service, fail to pay required fees, or if continued service would create legal, security, or operational risk.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws that apply to the business operating CertPilot, unless mandatory local law requires otherwise.
