Review of Optotutor

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I highly recommend this material for…

I highly recommend this material for any pre-registration optometrist who wants to make their life easier and be more successful in the long term, not just for the sake of passing the exams.

I subscribed to Optotutor and set up a monthly direct debit of £35, and every penny was worth it.

If you have passed stages 1 and 2, I suggest using the Optotutor OSCE workbook, which is available as a physical copy for £25. This includes access to video materials, and Bansi will send you an OSCE study plan for free. The OCSE Masterclass option is available for £100 a month, which is top-notch with so many video examples.

In conclusion, I encourage every pre-registration student to use this guide alongside their university notes. Hats off to Bansi and her team!

Review of Ecctis

I submitted my application for a QLS…

I submitted my application for a QLS check on February 24, 2026. A few days later, I was asked to upload a letter from my university to confirm that my education was conducted in English, despite this information being included in my transcript. After uploading the document to the portal, I received an update on March 5, 2026, stating that my application had been accepted for review and was awaiting a response from my university. Unfortunately, I have not received any updates since then.

I have confirmed with my university that they have not received any emails (including from spam or junk folders) from either Ecctis or the third-party verification team. When I call the Ecctis helpline at 0330 912 0040, I consistently receive the same standard response: they are unable to provide further updates.

Reading reviews on Trustpilot and other social media platforms only increases my anxiety. I am running out of time because my current visa is about to expire. I really cannot afford to wait for the full 20 days or to appeal if my application is returned as "unable to verify," which has happened to many other applicants.

I am losing hope in Ecctis, as their communication lacks transparency. It seems that Ecctis is not fulfilling its responsibilities, especially after charging such a significant fee of £265. The previous reviews indicate that my situation is not an isolated case.

I sincerely hope that Ecctis will reconsider my case and provide me with assistance or, at the very least, an update on my application.

Thank you for your comments.

Thank you for providing further information to us via Trustpilot - we have issued an update to your account directly, and as of 13/03/2026 the service has been completed with your qualification verified. You should refer to the updates issued in your QLS account for details of the outcome.

Please note that the application timeframe is 20 working days - and the final day to conclude this process was 27 March. Customers should be aware that It is not possible to bring this timeframe forward.

We understand that this is an important part of your visa application process, and make every effort to conclude the process as quickly as possible - subject to the cooperation of the awarding institution.

All applicants should be aware of the following:
- the requirement for a separate Medium of Instruction letter is outlined on our website - this is a mandatory requirement.
- the Home Office have designated that this service is a 20 working day service, and there is no facility to speed this up - customers should allow more than sufficient time when applying to ensure they meet Home Office requirements/deadlines
- this service is an alternative to other options as outlined in Home Office guidance
- once verification is underway, we are unable to provide a further update until either a response is received from the awarding institution, or the 20 working day timeframe is reached.
- as we use a range of verification methods relevant to individual applications or awarding institutions, we cannot provide you with further information. This is not intended to lack transparency, and are to protect the integrity of the service through counter-fraud measures
- responses to verification requests are processed within 5 working days of receipt

We hope this clarifies the nature of the service, and are pleased that we were able to complete your service within timeframe.

Kind regards
Ecctis
