Put the wrong fluid in my rear diff

Took my ute in for a routine service. They put the wrong fluid in my rear diff and tried to quote me for a completely unrelated fix that was made up to get more money. Took it elsewhere to get the diff fluid changed and my problems went away. Avoid this business.

My experience from the get go was questionable… I got my car towed in there for a donor gearbox, they told me they had. Once my car got there, they did not have the donor gearbox.
I waited months for it to come up from down south and in that time my car “sat there”. Months later they told me it was completed, I went and got it and it had 264ks on it. I took it in with 224ks! Also had damage done to both side panels. When bonnet was closed, both sides didn’t line up and had big gaps.
I took it back for them to fix after trying myself like they instructed me to do.
When I took it back for that to be fixed, I noticed very low coolant, they kept it another 2 weeks for fix hoses, that came to $900 but because they “parked my car on the road” another car came around the corner and hit mine. So they took $400 off the bill, with a total owing of $500! In all this time it had picked up a rat, it was chewing wires, using the battery as a toilet and made a nest in the bonnet liner!
When I went to start it after getting it home, nothing wouldn’t wind over or anything. Took it back to them on a truck, they said it’s needs a new gearbox/ transmission. They put that in and apparently everything was fine but still didn’t start and told me to find an auto electrician and that was that.
They said they could find one and I’d have to pay them for only time and labour but it’s not their auto electrician. So I said it’s basically effed now, got a truck to pick it up and took it to an auto electrician I know.
So after thousands of dollars and my car even worse off with all the damage and rat. AVOID at all cost.
It’ll cost you your health, family and an unbelievable amount of $$$!!!!
Never ever deal with Willy’s workshop at Oxley! Joe! You evil little man!!!!

If i could go lower then 1 i would...

Took my partners LDV she had back in September 2025 for a blocked dpf. Quoted $1300 and 1 day for dpf delete and tune.. a day later got told there was issues.. next day got told the battery was cactus to begin with and later the same day got a call back that they had installed a starter motor bcuz the old one was shot (mind u we didnt approve this) then be told that the wiring had also melted and that we would be charged "cost" for the starter.. we told them no because there was no issues prior to this and was informed that we could either pay for it or they could roll the car out on the road to be taken somewhere else.. a total of 5 days and $2150 later got told to pick the car up just before they closed for the day assuring us no issue and was all good to go.. we drove it not even 100m down the road to hear a very obvious knocking noise, did an instant u turn to take it back and upon arrival they looked over the car and to hear said knock to notice oil was pouring out from the bash plate.. then informed of other work they did to the car (removed timing case and all) admitted to basically reverse polariting the battery, had a worker admit it was thier fault & take full responsibility for it. Had it towed home and inspected to be informed not only was oil leaking from everywhere but that the motor was essentially blown up with bits of shrapnel in the oil and requiring a full rebuild

Worst service, bash plate in my back seat, lied to me!

Appalling customer service, had my Navara for 3 months and didn't fix the boost issue i took it there for. Diagnosed it incorrectly twice and told me I needed 2 new turbos. I paid initial invoice for 2 grand! a DPF and EGR delete and a engine oil and fuel filter service they insisted I needed. (EGR delete wasn't even done).
Then they proceeded to tell me they couldn't get the turbos, none in stock.
When I finally went to pick up my ute, still NOT fixed,I found car parts in my back seat, engine cover missing and not even ready to take home.
Worst mechanics I've ever dealt with!

WILLYS WORKSHOP. Left with a Major failure of service, vehicle not running, dismantled + breaches and bad business practices. Lawyers now involved.

Avoid Willy’s workshop.‼️
I am currently pursuing legal action in relation to this matter due to ongoing concerns around delays, losses, and how the job has been handled. I would advise avoiding this company to your own benefit.

What was presented as a straightforward engine conversion with an estimated 3-week turnaround has turned into a 5+ month ongoing issue involving delays, poor communication, misleading updates, and serious concerns around transparency, workmanship, and overall conduct.

I paid $22,500 upfront in good faith after being told work would begin once the donor vehicle arrived on 22/10/2025. From that point forward, communication became extremely inconsistent. Emails, calls, and messages would often go unanswered for extended periods, and I had to constantly follow up just to receive basic updates. Despite multiple requests, I was never provided with a clear or reliable timeline.

This situation has had a significant impact on my family. We were left without a vehicle for an extended period, which was difficult given we have a 15-month-old daughter and my partner is currently pregnant now with all this stress. A temporary vehicle was only provided after I escalated the situation due to the delays already exceeding the agreed timeframe, and there have been ongoing concerns surrounding that arrangement.

The original timeline was not met, and the job has extended well beyond what was discussed. I was repeatedly advised that progress was being made, including wiring and major components, however when attending the workshop, the vehicle often appeared unchanged for extended periods. I was also advised the donor vehicle had changed, however when I attended, the same donor vehicle was still present and being used.
I have concerns about how the vehicle has been handled. Components have been left loose and exposed, and there were instances where parts and dirty items were placed inside the vehicle interior. The vehicle has also been left outside in the weather without adequate protection, which does not reflect the level of care expected.

There were also issues regarding invoicing and payment handling. I was initially sent an invoice for the full amount instead of a deposit, and after paying a large sum of money, documentation and clarity around payments were limited. The invoice contains a questionable MTA reference, and payments do not appear clearly reflected. I was also advised my original engine and gearbox would be sold and credited, however there has been no documentation or confirmation of this.

The process has felt disorganised, with poor communication between locations and staff often unable to provide clear answers or updates. My vehicle was also used without my consent, resulting in toll charges.
More recently, the situation escalated further. I attended the workshop on 27/03/2026 with a witness to organise a timeline and handover due to ongoing delays and lack of transparency. At that time, there were still concerns regarding lack of progress despite prior commitments that work would be completed by 30/03/2026. During this visit there was a physical interaction while attempting to request updates and documentation, which has been recorded on both CCTV and is now being addressed through the appropriate channels.

Due to the ongoing issues, I have sought legal representation and am currently pursuing a resolution through formal processes. I have also raised concerns with relevant authorities including Queensland Police, EPA, Transport, Fair Work, and MTA regarding aspects of this experience.
This situation has caused significant stress, financial impact, and disruption to my family. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend others proceed with caution, particularly for complex or long-term work, and ensure everything is clearly documented.
since arrival at the workshop. The vehicle as of 27/03/2026 remains in the same condition.

We have also had third parties attend our address uninvited regarding payments linked to this business. When raised with the workshop, we were told it would be “passed on,” which mirrors the lack of action we have experienced over the past 5+ months, this is not a good look for the business and is throwing red flags for the potential for more creditor intervention. Since engaging this company we have dug deeper, and spoken to people in the industry + Individuals and this aligns with what we have experienced both the way we have been treated and the latter.

Based on my experience, this workshop has demonstrated a lack of accountability, ineffective communication, and practices that raise concerns regarding transparency and the the lack of due care and skill.

A Current Affair has been notified of this business.

Highly Recommend

Had a really good experience getting my car serviced here. The team was friendly, explained everything clearly, and didn’t try to upsell anything unnecessary. The service was done on time and my car is running great. Definitely coming back and would recommend to others.
