No Hot Water
Melbourne Apartment Complaint
On the 19th February, I booked and paid ($1345) for 6 nights’ accommodation [ Friday 2nd May till Thursday 8th May] for the property 1/128 Alma Rd St Kilda for 4 adults and 2 children.
When we arrived on Friday afternoon, there were large wet patches on the carpet on the entry way, hall way and into the first bedroom. The entry way had been covered with a rug; probably to disguise the wet patches, and it was also wet. We photographed the patches.
On Tuesday 25th February, I emailed the "host" enquiring about parking and was informed that there was space for 2 cars.
On Friday 2nd May, I was emailed the address and code for the lock box. On Saturday morning when trying to shower, it was apparent that there was no hot water and the wet carpet was the result of the "hot" water tank leaking. I emailed the "host" to inform him/her about the wet patches and there was no apology, merely a question as to whether we'd like a plumber to come on Monday 5th May.
The plumber didn't come and consequently there was no hot water available at all for the rest of our stay. Apart from no hot water, the condition of the apartment was quite shabby and obviously poorly maintained.
* tiles missing
* the ironing board (without a cover) erected in the bath tub, presumably to act as a towel rail, as the two rails on the wall could only hold a hand towel
* a mirror missing from the bathroom cabinet
*The plaster on the bedroom wall chipped and what looked like a blood stain running down the wall
* no bedside tables or bedside reading lamps as depicted on your website
* broken blinds
*poorly repaired plaster wall in the sitting room
*cracked hand basin in the bathroom and a plug which didn't work
* no light bulb in the entry way and no spares
I have photographed all of the above and can email them to you.
I would request that at least half of our rental be refunded, as the property was most unsatisfactory and not as depicted n the website.
