I was very disappointed by my experience with Spirio’s subscription renewal and lack and transparency and communication.
I appreciate that the subscription renews automatically after the 14-day trial and that this is set out in the terms. My concern is that I received no reminder before the renewal and no notification of how much I was about to be charged. After two weeks, I was suddenly charged around £50, which is a significant amount for a wellbeing app. Had I received a simple reminder with the renewal date and the subscription price, I would have cancelled in time.
When I contacted customer support, they repeatedly referred me to the refund policy and stated that a refund could not be issued. While I understand that policies exist, I found the response extremely rigid and showed no attempt to understand the situation or offer any flexibility.
What makes this more frustrating is that, after reading other Trustpilot reviews, I found several customers describing accidental renewals where Spirio did issue refunds or made exceptions. This suggests that some discretion is possible, but it was not applied in my case.
Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that Spirio is a company built around wellbeing, mindfulness and personal growth. I expected those values to be reflected in the way customers are treated. Instead, I encountered a very inflexible approach, with no empathy or willingness to consider that people sometimes make genuine mistakes. The customer experience simply didn’t reflect the values the app promotes.
I would encourage anyone signing up to set their own reminder to cancel the trial if they don’t wish to continue, as you may not receive a notification before the renewal or a reminder of the amount that will be charged

I signed up for something that I never even began during a difficult period some time back and forgot that I even enrolled in the program. Then, when I received a notice from my credit card company of a charge, I wrote Spirio telling them that I didn't think the charge was appropriate. After sending that, I went through my email and found that I had signed up but, again, never participated. The Spririo Team replied within a few hours and refunded my money. I was so very impressed with the thoroughness as well as the promptness of their assistance and wrote to tell them so and to let them know that I would be back in the future. I think that a lot of people have had a similar situation and seen different outcomes. Thank you again Spirio Team.
