Three times I voted for Trump. He was and remains a better choice than any of the three who ran against him. That being said, the Iran war clearly shows him to be stepping on his dick.
Iran is clearly prolonging the conflict until November, because their aim is obviously to influence the election. It wouldn’t surprise me to find out the Democrats are conspiring with Iran to make that happen.
Still, this is a disaster in the making for the Republicans. Fuel prices are sky high. Gasoline is averaging more than $4.30 a gallon. Inflation is high, and the Fed is expected to raise interest rates by a quarter percent today.
The nation, and perhaps the world, is about to enter a recession. Americans vote with their wallets. Republican lawmakers, sensing vulnerability to anti-Trump election pressures, are beginning to turn on him.
All of this signals a return to Democrat control of Congress. Trump is about to become a powerless lame duck.
That also means a likely stranglehold of both Congress and the Whitehouse. Imagine President AOC, but backed by Control of both the Senate and the House.

The clock is ticking down; we don’t have much time. Next year, this year will be the good old days.

If the Dems take either or both the house and Senate in November, it will be impeachment theater until the next election.
A president AOC would be one of the lowest points in our nation’s history. Can you imagine her sitting across from Putin? There will be no respect anywhere. Her entire presidency would be puppet strings held by Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries.

I think it’s incorrect to say that Trump made the wrong decision. I think he made the best possible decision based on his options. His problem is that the previous Administrations in the US left him with a Sophie’s choice — no matter what he chose to do, it would be wrong.
If one starts with the axiom that the big issue here is Iran and nukes, then Trump had three, and only three options:
1) Do nothing, or make ineffectual gestures, like the previous Administrations and accept that Iran will have nukes, with all that entails.
2) Start a ground war.
3) Start a seige war.
Those, as far as I can see, are the only three things he could do. I think he was right to believe that an Iran with nukes would be an absolute disaster, and it’s clear they were both on the cusp of having them *and* had developed long range delivery technology.
A ground war was untenable, particularly after Biden’s debacle in Afghanistan. American popular opinion would not support it in the absence of some sort of equivalent of 9/11 or Pearl Harbor, and of course the Democrats are actively pro-Iran and anti-American. It would be a disaster at home.
Siege warfare works, and for the US, the cost is relatively low, at least at the beginning. Siege warfare has been around, of course, for a zillion years, and it follows a pretty limited number of paths. You isolate your enemy and then wait and see who runs out of resources first.
Then, one of three things happen. The siege can be lifted because the target gets relief from another ally (e.g. the Poles and Germans and rest of the Holy League relieving Vienna in 1683). The target runs out of resources or the defenses collapse, and the attackers walk ind(e.g. Siege of Vicksburg, 1863). The attacker runs out of resources and lifts the siege (e.g. the siege of Hatra in by Rome in 197). There are more complex patterns, but those are the basic three.
Trump didn’t have to worry about a relief force. The US has plenty of resources for this, in spite of the Democrat propaganda. Of the three options, the siege option was the best. If Trump were lucky, the siege would be shortened by having a popular uprising in Iran, or actions by the Kurds. If, not, the primary threat to the US and success was not Iran, but Democrats who are, for all practical purposes, Iranian allies.
If given time, the siege will work eventually. It’s not a great solution, but of the options available, it was the best. Even in the worst scenario, Trump has been largely successful in the primary goal of stopping nuke development if not permanently, then at least for the next couple of decades.
The Democrat allies of Iran may not allow Trump to continue on to victory, but that’s not because Trump was stupid in what he did or made the “wrong” choice. He made the best of multiple bad choices.

I disagree. Attacking Iran will, as my post illustrates, guarantee an unfriendly Congress after the mnothing idterms.
Doing nothing could allow Iran to get nukes, or it may not. Remember that was the same excuse given for invading Iraq.

The Persian’s have tractor trailers FULL of chemical weapons buried in the desert just waiting to be used on our allies…

C’mon man, when am I ever serious?
I still find it comical that the entire nation got behind the war effort in Iraq because Powell was so convincing. Honestly, I’ve re-watched that press conference to see if I can spot him wincing when he tells the lies… the man’s good, he’s good.

Do you really think that Iran would not develop nukes failing the destruction of that infrastructure by Trump? Do you really think the evidence we have is falsified by the US government? We will have to agree to disagree on that. I think it’s clear that Iran was on the verge of developing nukes *and* had already developed missiles to deliver them (which they also denied having, and then used).
And, Trump has always had an unfriendly Congress. That’s the problem. Even with a marginal majority, there are enough Republicans who ally with Democrats that his functional power is limited. If you think that the election is going bad now, think about how it would be going if Iran test fired a nuclear weapon and then started claiming the Strait of Hormuz. That’s not a winning strategy either.
If you want to use Iraq as an example, it may be that Iran was faking it’s success in development, but that’s not what the data really points to… Iran’s motivation for lying about its capabilities is different than Iraq’s. Iran wins by minimizing the appearance of success until it succeeds. Irag hoped to win by maximizing the appearance of having biological and chemical weapons in the hope of scaring the US away from invasion.
As far as Iraq goes, the WMD thing was not simply an excuse. It was bad intelligence, but it was an honest appraisal. For some reason the folk who like to think that the US government was knowingly lying about it ignore the interview that Hussein gave before his execution. In that interview, he went into some detail to describe the efforts he made to telegraph that he had biological and chemical weapons. He set up an entire campaign to convince the West that he had them. And it worked. His bet was that the West was so afraid of biological and chemical weapons that we would not take action at all. He lost that bet.
Let me tell you a story. At that time I was in the Army, and I was involved in one small part of preparation for that invasion. I’m a forensic pathologist who had a little expertise in CBRN stuff (now obsolete expertise). Not only was the Pentagon convinced that there were chemical and biological weapons, but we believed they would likely be deployed, resulting in tens of thousands of casualties.
One of the big problems, if that happened, was that we could not bring contaminated bodies back from theater into CONUS. So, we had to develop plans for dealing with large numbers of contaminated deaths, large scale decontamination in theater, and return of bodies in a safe manner. It was going to be a logistical nightmare. You can’t just take a body full of smallpox, place it in a remains pouch or casket, and put it on a plane. Remember that this was a period when people were out digging up old diseases — Taubenberger was up in Alaska digging up 1918 flu, there were people out in the boonies digging up old smallpox bodies, there were people out in the fields harvesting anthrax. We were, what six or seven years out from the Japanese sarin attack. It was also just a couple years after that big anthrax scare. When I was working in DC, *all* of my mail went through irradiation. It was a pain because it melted the plastic in those little envelope windows, which made getting the letters out of the envelope a pain.
I can’t go into details, and they are not important, but we were developing a large and expensive contingency plan for tens of thousands of American warfighters killed by chemical and biological weapons. Now when I hear this myth that it was all a lie on our part, I have to roll my eyes. It’s right up there with “9/11 was an inside job.” It was certainly a failure of intelligence (or from Hussein’s perspective, a *success* of intelligence), but it was not deceit.
Divemedic · September 16, 2026 at 10:58 am
1 we first heard Iran was on the verge of nukes in 1989, 37 years ago.
2 if, if, if
3 I heard all the chem war bullshit, too. Spent weeks at mopp level 1.
4 ah, the classic “I was a veteran, but it was all classified, but believe me,bro”
5 The difference between this and 9/11 truthers? They ARE the same. The evidence for 9/11 being an inside job and Iran having nukes? Yeah, there isn’t any.
Post evidence or be quiet.

Mid-terms are always bad for the incumbent President If the Democrats want to use the last two years trying to impeach Trump it will be another example of the bureaucracy in DC. Wasting our time and money.
J J · September 16, 2026 at 9:55 am
Pure forever war neocon bulls**t. How many decades has Iran “almost” completed a nuclear weapon? Trump didn’t have to believe Zionist Netanyahu over his own military and intelligence advisors. Trump chose to betray his campaign promises of no new wars, cheaper gas/diesel and great economy. Fortunately, I won’t have to face the decision to vote for him a fourth time.
U.S. blood and money continues flowing into the quagmire of getting involved with Israel and every country it declares is a threat to its existence.
Canuck · September 16, 2026 at 3:54 pm
There is no evidence that this war has hindered Iran’s nuclear-weapons making ability. Many experts such as Ted Postol say they already have the materials and expertise and either have a weapon or could build one quickly.
I said this would be a disaster way back in the beginning (early March) and was met by flag waving BS from commenters. It was very obvious then that this would not turn out well. The military is one to two generations behind peer adversaries (Ru and China) in terms of missile and drone tech and Iran is not far behind. Iran has been building to fight this war for generations. Missile silos that can’t be destroyed, short, medium and long-range missiles that can’t be stopped and plenty of low-cost drones that can swarm defences.
As for a nuke, the Supreme Leader forbid it, but the US/Israel killed him in a sneak attack during negotiations. So much for moral leadership in the world – and you all but guaranteed that Iran will add nukes to its arsenal. It’s not even the first Muslim country to have nukes (Pakistan) and I’d be a lot more concerned about them having nukes than Iran given their unstable political system and level of general craziness.
Beyond the economic disaster, the war has exposed the vulnerability of the US military to cheap stand-off weapons and emptied its inventories. How can a navy with 11 carriers have only 3 operational?
As for the ME bases that are severely damaged by missile and drone attacks, that news is getting out with CBS reporting on the carnage.

Trump has DESTROYED his Presidency due to breaking most of his campaign promises and doing whatever “our greatest ally” wanted.
The Iraq War, the War on Terror and the whole US foreign policy since 2000 has been in service to another country’s interests and against ours.
Bibi has been saying Iran was 2 weeks from getting a nuke for DECADES. The truth is if they had wanted one they would have had one with help from their friends in Pakistan.
Also why is it OK for “our greatest ally” to have nukes (totally AGAINST the nuclear prolification treaty) and no one in our government can EVER acknowledge that fact because if we did we would have to cut all ties with them.
This is ALL about the greater Israel project and screw all of us. Thanks to Bibi leading us around by the nose, we are LOSING ALL of our long term allies and long term is devastating to the US’s interests, standing in the World and economy.
Oh and the majority of Dems are just as much in “our greatest ally’s” pocket as the Repubs.
They’ll give lip service but watch what they DID under Biden and once they win the House and Senate. It’ll be business as usual as our politicians and main stream media are all bought and paid for mainly with OUR tax money we give them.

Georgiaboy61 · September 16, 2026 at 3:38 pm
The trouble with the argument “Iran must not get nukes” is that Iran already has them. The cat is already out of the bag vis-a-vis the Islamic bomb, thanks to Dr. A.Q. Khan of Pakistan. And Lehore has already indicated its willingness to share nuke tech with Tehran. Which means that if Iran does not already have a working atomic device, they can within a short time.
Attempts to limit Iran’s enrichment facilities et al. are likewise doomed to fail; even if Iran’s facilities are wiped out in a air strike or commando raid or the like, that still doesn’t solve the problem of Pakistan.
What Tel Aviv really wants is regime change. And why should the U.S. fight a major war – perhaps risking world war – to do that for them? This ill-advised war has already destroyed what remained of stabiity in the Middle East and cause world oil prices to skyrocket. Isn’t that enough damage?

Iraq had the remains of some chemical weapons, not anything battle effective but gave a good enough impression. Rumor was something of a convoy crashed the border in to Syria in the opening hours of 2003’s invasion and it did seem they had some degraded stuff that was later used against their people. That was what we were told to possibly on a slim chance expect from their IEDs in that time frame and up to 2005ish. That was supposedly what the situation is. I suspect a lot of things are pretty hard to prove after things go boom or sit and degrade somewhere in the desert for decades. So the rumors went/go.
I half wonder if the CIA and other intelligence assets at that time may have known how degraded those capabilities were and wanted to make GB2 look bad in office by overselling that as a reason to go in there in the first place.
We knew we in much of the time in Iraq were fighting Iranian backed militias or just outright Iranians as really it seems when domination of the entire region is not realistic, destablization would be. I’m pretty positive that perhaps the “silent majority” of Iranians that are repressed by that political system are likely alright people, does not mean we have to spend billions on them too, especally when Israel is right there. You want things squared away perhaps go take them on. (I don’t buy the deal of them worrying about getting attacked any more than they have been one bit.)
I think we are there to try to protect and take things out first, and try to take out capabilities to damage oil infastructure. But if not hey US companies make money on fuel costs due to being unthreatened by a regional conflict and exporting it right?
I think this is at best outlook for us is Iran sees it as a 0 sum game, and/or they just will win no matter what be it religious fanaticism or to further destabilize the region. (Folks that think there was really any stability there have not been paying attention that close)
Not really bothered by the Iranian militas getting smoked, truth be told.
However, this all makes me want to ask a question even beyond if this is a deep state ruse to make Trump/Retardigans look unstomachable all the more with how things are unfolding.
What if Iran is just fucking around with people. Surely it would be a lot cheaper/easier to smuggle in a Paki or old Commie Block warhead than spend perhaps billions making and remaking nuke mfg stuff? Perhaps that’s what’s actually going on.
Iran is terrible for a political sense no matter what. IslamoFacist infact. But I think other than sending the Republican Guard here and there in the region to destablize it they likely offer no launch capabilities.
I feel if they really were as big of a threat with -any- of this stuff the countries in the region would have banded together to go solve the issue themselves. They had no issue doing it against Isreal a few times, even though they got their asses kicked because most of the men over there can’t and won’t fight unless they have far superior capabilities against say women and children. Especally with the US is willing to shed blood and treasure to do it for them.
I’m of the view now that we just pull out of this and tell our “allies” in the region they can go deal with it, they have been softened up! But we know how that always goes.

Trump won’t be impeached at first, a Democrat ran Congress will have hearing after hearing over the rampant corruption of the Trump administration. They already have thick files documenting this.
When they do get around to impeaching Trump, they will have the votes to do it easily, and in the Senate he will be convicted because there more than enough Republican Senators that cannot wait to shove a knife in the back of Trump.
JD Vance will be President by this time next year, just watch.
