Who Is Marsha Ingrao?
Marsha Ingrao published poetry and professional articles in several journals during her busy teaching career. After retiring in 2012, she started blogging, which led to a new world of writing and photography. After blogging for about a year, Arcadia Publishing saw a post in her blog about the small town of Woodlake, and contacted her to write Images of America Woodlake. She’s been writing and publishing ever since.
What Books Are Listed on This Page?
Embracing the Power to Live, launched on May 12, 2025, is a combination of a memoir and poetry. Her goal for this book is to encourage and support budding authors to write their own stories and poetry. Story Chat Digest, Where Stories Meet, introduces a new author who responded to her call, encouraging others to share their stories.
The Images of America Woodlake book is part of a series of books about interesting places across the country. You find them in retail stores, National and State Parks, bookstores, and online. Woodlake is a foothill community on the way to Sequoia National Park.

The Story Chat books started with a unique blogging program. The authors sent her stories each month. Then, they discussed them, offering kind, detailed, and helpful feedback. The first anthology, Story Chat: Online Literary Conversations: a Series of Short Stories and Ruminations included three or four of the more salient comments to create the ambiance of a book club. The second anthology, Story Chat Volume II: International Short Stories Generating Conversations, included more authors, more stories, some writing tips, a parting poem, and a few comments. Questions for home Story Chat meetups were also included for each story.
The newest anthology, Story Chat Digest Where Stories Meet, was published on March 8. This 212-page anthology includes both stories and poetry woven throughout the book in delightful sections.
Blogging also brought other writing opportunities. Yvette Prior invited her to write a chapter about blogging in her anthology, This Is How We Grow. Marsha also wrote a chapter for Yvette’s newest books, This Is How We Work and This Is How We Eat.
Colleen Chesebro and Robbie Cheadle now have two Sunflower Tanka anthologies: Dreams and Into the Light. Marsha was honored to have poems published in both of them.
She submitted several syllabic poems for the 2025 edition as well. Between 2024 and 2025, she also had three poems published online. Laughing Hills and Falu, Mom’s Parting Color were published on Spillwords and Serendipitous Desertion on Masticadores USA. Short story, “A Bunch of Hooey,” was published on the Reedsy blog.

Even shy authors can’t be hermits. We share our books at service or special interest club meetings, such as Kiwanis, Lions, or Historical Societies. We enjoy meeting people through podcasts, and go by Zoom where we are invited.
