Back in the early 80's I was living in Oakland, California and was at a friend's house. Her roommate was playing music (Bobby "Blue" Bland I think) and I was finger popping and singing along. For some reason she thought it was incredible I knew the music. She then started a little game by playing music she thought would stump me; Tower of Power, Parliament, Fatback, Betty Davis, Cymande, Black Heat...). After a few albums she declared "You are one funky little white boy" and FLWB was born.
My musical tastes are all over the road and so are some of my mixes. The only genre I don't play and try to avoid at all costs is modern country tho, I do like alt country and country & western. (It might have something to do with Taylor Swift.)
