Got my first set of REAL decks (lol, Kam BDX belt drives) around '93/'94 ish, and have been experimenting with mixing and scratching ever since.
Prior to that, i broke Mums record player AT LEAST 3 times trying to scratch, so Dad found me an old pair of 70's coffin cased disco decks !
After finally getting it together to buy something with a pitch control, i just kept on practicing...i love this audiosport of DJing skills :D
I won a Nationwide DJing comp when i went to Uni sponsored by Vestax.
These days i can be found bashing out Oldschool Hiphop mixes, Soul and Funk mixes, as well as Breakbeats and Ghettofunk.
Over the years i have supported people like Ice-T, De-La Soul, Pharoe Monch, DJ Yoda, Non-Phixion, to name but a few.
I Mix with 1210's, a TTM57SL, Serato, and Dicers. I tend to make most of my mixes without the use of headphones, just for the challenge :)
