Grocery stores will be closed from 6pm on May Day eve, with the exception of small grocery stores, some of which may stay open later. On May Day most grocery stores will be closed, except for kiosks, stores in sparsely populated areas and service stations.

Banks are open as usual on Wednesday and closed on May Day itself.
Post offices will close at 6pm May Day eve and will be closed on May Day.
Long distance transport services will run on normal weekday schedules Wednesday. On May Day long distance trains and buses will mostly run on Sunday schedules, except for some morning trains, which will run to normal weekday schedules. More information available from the national railways VR.

Helsinki regional traffic will operate according to Friday timetables on the eve of May Day. Trams in the city centre will be operating on altered routes during the evening. The metro will run for two hours later than usual. On May Day, transport will operate according to Sunday schedules, with the exception of local trains, which will run according to Saturday timetables.
