Some 1.24 million people from 88 different countries visited Finland during the winter season, or between December and February.
The tourists spent a combined total of 1.23 billion euros, according to figures from Business Finland (BF).
In a press release, the agency — which is responsible for promoting tourism and travel — noted that the number of visitors was up 7 percent compared to the same period last year, but spending increased by 15 percent year-on-year.
Tourists spent the lions' share of their travel budgets on accommodation, restaurants and cafés, as well as on transport, shopping and sporting or cultural events, according to Business Finland's figures.
The 1.2 billion euros figure does not include the cost of travelling to Finland, such as airline tickets.
In total last year, people visiting Finland from abroad spent around 3.7 billion euros, which works out at an average of 764 euros per person.
Winter tourists tend to spend more per person compared to people who visit during the summer, BF noted, as winter activities — such as the hiring of sports equipment — costs more.
