US’ CTL plate imports slide in Apr m-o-m, y-o-y

According to preliminary data from the US Census Bureau, under the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported approximately 28,200 tons of cut-to-length (CTL) plates in April, a decrease of 14% compared to the previous month and a significant drop of 53% compared to the same month a year ago.

Of these, Canada was the largest supplier, contributing around 12,700 tons, which represented a 13.7% month-on-month increase and a 40.6% year-on-year decrease. South Korea, the top source last month, ranked second with a supply of around 10,800 tons.

The total value of these imports amounted to about US$32 million, a month-on-month decrease of 10.7% and a year-on-year drop of 57.2%.
