SPRINGFIELD — The Project Prison Reset Task Force is slated to meet Tuesday, April 29, in Springfield.
Members of the task force are scheduled to convene at 9 a.m. at the Mike Durfee State Prison, 1412 Wood St., and tour the facility before recessing for lunch. The prison tour is for task force members only, for security and logistical reasons.
Task force members are set to reconvene at noon at the Springfield Community Services Center, 605 Eighth St. Springfield Mayor Scott Kostal will give remarks, followed by a variety of presentations. There then will be a review of state prison site requests for information, time for public comments and task force questions and discussions.
The agenda for the task force meeting may be found online by searching the state of South Dakota’s website for boards and commissions at boardsandcommissions.sd.gov, which also offers a streaming option for the meeting.

I still think yankton county should still be considered for the new state prison . It's actually the perfect place with easy transfer back and forth to the prison in Springfield and it's close to the hospital and a great medical clinic. Plus could possibly promote construction for New housing of homes and New construction of apartments in the area.
