Motivation
[edit]It looks like a well-maintained database for the ZX Spectrum (Q23882) that is already widely linked in English Wikipedia. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Matthias M. (talk • contribs).

- Comment The property name should refer to the identifier, not just the database name, like "Spectrum Computing ID". -wd-Ryan (Talk/Edits) 18:19, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
- Renamed it as suggested. Matthias M. (talk) 22:07, 11 November 2023 (UTC)

- @Matthias M., Lewis Hulbert, Wd-Ryan: Done: Spectrum Computing ID (P12162). Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 05:11, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Matthias_M., Kirilloparma: Wait, what? This is the same as ZXDB ID (P4705). SpectrumComputing is only a frontend for ZXDB − it says right there on the front page: « Proudly powered by the open source ZXDB database - The largest ZX Spectrum database in the world! » That’s why P4705 has
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php?cat=96&id=$1
as third-party formatter URL (P3303). That’s why SpectrumComputing.co.uk (Q111488717)uses (P2283)ZXDB (Q111488733). This property is a mistake in my opinion. (also, geez, pings don’t work when unsigned) Jean-Fred (talk) 18:40, 19 November 2023 (UTC)- Oh, I thought ZXDB was the software stack. However, it seems that they supply different content under the same ID, so it might be a Mod DB/Indie DB relationship? Matthias M. (talk) 18:48, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- As far as I know, all the websites (SpectrumComputing, ZXinfo, Classic World of Spectrum, etc.) that use ZXDB will have the exact same set of IDs, with perfect overlap. As far as I know, there is no situation where front-end A has an entry 1234 that does not exist in front-end B or vice-versa (which is the case for Mod DB/Indie DB, where one is only a subset of the other) Jean-Fred (talk) 18:57, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

- @Jean-Frédéric: Yeah, I just now noticed that Spectrum is a fork of the already existing ZXDB and indeed a separate identifier is redundant in this case, since IDs are shared (strong GameRankings and GameFAQs vibes...), one is more than enough. I have no objection against the removal of this property. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 03:53, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- P.S. @Matthias M.: Please revise my tip on how to properly ping various wiki projects on Wikidata. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 03:53, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
