Motivation
[edit]- Some context: it seems that the formatter URL of Qobuz artist ID (P7071) is outdated. Although it still works, the "download-streaming-albums" part is replaced by the numeric ID, so using the P7071 examples to illustrate it, sean-paul/download-streaming-albums redirects to sean-paul/35232 and stromae/download-streaming-albums redirects to stromae/224951.
- There are two possible formatter URLs for this ID, one for qobuz.com store site, and another one for the play.qobuz streaming site, since they share the same IDs: the same numeric IDs for artist, the same numeric IDs for labels and the same numeric or numbers mixed with letters ID for releases, which is the first reason why I didn't put any formatter URL for now, I wasn't sure which one to use. But play.qobuz seems to be restricted to Qobuz subscribers, since it redirects you to a login page if you're not signed in. I'm a subscriber so I am able to see the streaming pages of each example.
- At the same time that the Qobuz Store link is more accessible, it's not as stable as the streaming link format (https://play.qobuz.com/artist/$1), which has only the number instead of artist-name/1234. But an interesting thing is that we can replace the artist name in the Qobuz Store URL by almost anything and it still redirects to the correct page (try it yourself), i.e., the numeric ID is what matters most, and we could possibly set a random character in the formatter URL like a dash e.g. https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/interpreter/-/$1 ("-" is where the artist name will be in the redirect). –Guttitto (talk) 16:03, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Edit: Added
https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/interpreter/-/$1
as formatter URL. –guttitto(talk · contribs) 16:51, 29 January 2023 (UTC) - Support Would this be used as a qualifier of Qobuz artist ID (P7071)? Laftp0 (talk) 12:17, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
- That is a possibility, or to replace the other property. But since it is now already widely used, it might be better as a qualifier. –guttitto(talk · contribs) 17:03, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
