U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar fell in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.43 percent to 98.097 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.1669 dollars from 1.1612 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.3496 dollars from 1.3436 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 147.73 Japanese yen, lower than 148.14 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8074 Swiss francs from 0.8123 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3777 Canadian dollars from 1.3778 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 9.5486 Swedish kronor from 9.6382 Swedish kronor.
