Parking Services
Tarleton State University Parking Services aims to provide excellent parking and transportation management as a service to assist students, visitors, faculty, and staff members. Parking and transportation services protects and manages capacity and mobility for the students, faculty, and staff who are adhering to university rules and regulations. Proper management also protects capacity to effectively host events and activities for visitors to campus. We provide specific permits for each type of student (Residential or Commuter), faculty/staff, and visitors to negate the issuing of tickets and communicate where to park while on campus. Please check out the rules and regulations before parking on campus.
All permitting and citations are managed by Parking Services, a department under Campus Operations. Our office is located in the lower level of the Thompson Student Center, suite 21. The Student Center Circle is for loading and unloading purposes only. Vehicles may not be left unattended for any reason.
Hours of Operation: Monday- Friday, 8AM – 5PM
Important Information
- Physical permit decals will no longer be mailed to you. Parking permits are now virtual.
- Students, Faculty, and Staff will access the Parking Portal to obtain a permit, pay citations, and register vehicles. Third party employees must use Marketplace.
- STARTING FALL 2025: Tarleton will be returning to OPT OUT for permits, students will be automatically billed for their parking permit. It is the responsibility of each student to register for the appropriate permit on both Stephenville and Ft Worth campuses each long semester (Fall and Spring). Students will have until the 12th class day to OPT OUT of their permit if they will NOT have a vehicle on either Stephenville or Ft Worth campus throughout the semester. If at any time a student that has opted out is found to be parked on campus, Parking Services will reinstate the permit cost onto the student bill. This process cannot be reversed once completed. Permits are required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Faculty and Staff parking permits expire every year on August 31. It is the responsibility of the individual to purchase and register for a parking permit each year.
- All visitors must have a visitor’s permit to park on campus. Please stop by the Parking Services office to obtain a permit. You will need your license plate number.
- It is important that you review the most updated parking map to ensure that you are selecting the appropriate parking lot and/or zone.
How Do Virtual Permits Work?
Parking Services utilizes LPR (license plate recognition) technology to efficiently confirm the virtual permit for registered license plates of students, faculty, and staff. This allows for the elimination of decal permits by mail and provides convenience when needing to make updates to your permit and vehicle information.
