Lesson Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
1. define the concepts of adolescence, puberty, and
identity;
2. discuss identity crisis in the context of adolescence; and
3. formulate a vision board related to adolescent identity
development.

Adolescence – the transition period from childhood to
adulthood
The three phases of adolescence are:
(1) Early Adolescence – 11–13 years old;
(2) Middle Adolescence – 13–17 years old; and
(3) Late Adolescence – 17–19 years old.

Puberty – the period comprising the bodily changes
experienced by adolescents as they slowly become
capable of sexual reproduction
Examples: increase in height and weight, hair growth on
the armpits and the pubic region, and changes in the
sex organ

Identity – the amalgamation of an adolescent’s different
traits. Identity is what makes you unique from other
people. It is a combination of your beliefs, personality,
skills, values, background, and life goals. It is how you
define yourself as an adolescent (Rogers, 2018).

Instructions: The goal of this activity is for each student
to create a vision board. First, find a quiet corner where
you can contemplate and think freely. Then, try to
envision how you see yourself 10 years from now. Next,
draw this vision in the provided box. Finally, answer the
succeeding guide questions.

• Adolescence – the period of transition from childhood
to adulthood
• Transition – the process of change from childhood to
maturity
• Puberty – the physical transformations occurring in
adolescence toward the ability to sexually reproduce

principles related to the study of puberty
