- 2. I live in a village. There are many small wooden houses in it. People lived here 50 years ago, and they live here now. There was not running water and central heating in these houses, only electricity. There are no modern conveniences in the houses now too. But life today seems to be better than 50 years ago. For example, people don`t have to wash clothes without a washing machine.
- 3. There were only a kitchen and a living room in the most houses. The kitchen was very small. There was a small fridge, a table and a cupboard in it. There was not a microwave, a dishwasher, an electric cooker in the old houses. The food was very simple, but it was healthy. Modern technology has changed our lives, now we use different gadgets for preparing food.
- 4. In the living room the furniture was very simple, too. There was a round table, a sofa and a black and white TV and a carpet on the floor. In the evening all the family watched TV programmes and discussed them. My Granny says that people read many books and newspapers in their free time.
- 5. My grandmother often tells me about her childhood and youth. She says it was a happy time and people were different. They had not computers and phones and spent much time with their friends. They walked, played different games, sang songs and danced. We spend our free time playing computer games and prefer telephone calls to meetings with the friends.
- 6. People had to do hard work in villages especially in summer. They had to mew grass for their cattle and to grow vegetables. We also have much work but using tractors makes it easier than 50 years ago
- 7. The cars were different 50 years ago too. There were a few personal cars in our village. People went by bus. Now many families have their own cars. It is more comfortable. In conclusion I can say that life was more difficult 50 years ago. But there are positive points, too. Children spend much time in the fresh air playing games and sports. People were much friendly and helped each other.
