Citation:
 A "citation" is the way you tell your readers that certain
material in your work came from another source. It also gives
your readers the information necessary to find that source again,
including: information about the author. the title of the work.
 A citation is a reference to a book, article, web page, or other
published item. Citations should supply detail to identify the
item uniquely. Different citation systems and styles are used in
scientific citation, legal citation, prior art, the arts, and the
humanities
 A citation is a reference to a published or unpublished source
that you consulted and obtained information from while writing
your research paper. The way in which you document your
sources depends on the writing style manual your professor
wants you to use for the class [e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago,
Turabian, etc

Cite Score (CS):
 Cite Score is the number of citations received by a journal in
one year to documents published in the three previous years,
divided by the number of documents indexed
in Scopus published in those same three years
 In any given year, the Cite Score of a journal is the number of
citations, received in that year, of articles published in that
journal during the three preceding years, divided by the total
number of "citable items" published in that journal during the
three preceding years:
 Cite Score is another metric for measuring journal impact in
Scopus. Cite Score Tracker provides a current review of how a
journal is performing during the course of the year. It is updated
every month.
JECRC UNIVERCITY, JAIPUR
Calculation For Citation Score(CS): If we calculate the cite score for a
journal in the year 2018, the calculation will be as below:
No. of citations to all items published in 2015-2017 = 114639
No. of all items published in 2015-2017 = 7860
Cite Score in 2018 = 114639/7860 = 14.59
Note:
i. Cite Score includes all document types indexed in Scopus, e.g. articles,
reviews, letters, notes, editorials and conference papers.
ii. Cite Score is calculated on an annual basis, showing the average
citations for a full calendar year.
iii. 2018 cite Score are reported in 2019 they cannot be calculated until all
of the 2018 publications have been processed by the indexing agency.

Impact Factor of journal as per journal citation report (IF-JCR):
The impact factor was invent by Eugene Garfield, the founder of the Institute
for Scientific Information (ISI). Impact factors are calculated yearly starting
from 1975 for journals listed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
Definition:
A.Garfield defined impact factor as the ratio of number of citations received
by source items in a particular year to the number of source items
published over a fixed period of time in a particular periodic publication.
A.The impact factor (IF) is a measure of the frequency with which the
average article in a journal has been cited in a particular year. It is used to
measure the importance or rank of a journal by calculating the times it's
articles are cited.
JECRC UNIVERCITY, JAIPUR
Calculation For Impact Factor (IF): If we calculate the Impact Factor for
a journal in the year 2017, the calculation well be as below
Citation in 2016 + 2015 = 32389+41701
Publications 2016 + 2015 = 880+ 902
IF 2017 = 74090/1782 = 41.577
Note:
i. 2017 Impact factor are reported in 2018 they cannot be calculated
until all of the 2017 publications have been processed by the
indexing agency.
ii. Impact Factor includes Articles, Reviews and Conference Paper.
IF 2017 =
Citations 2016 + Citations 2015
Publications 2016 + Publications 2015

SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper):
The SNIP (source normalized impact per paper) indicator is an indicator of
the citation impact of scientific journals. The indicator, introduced by Henk
Moed in 2010, is included in Elsevier’s Scopus database. The SNIP
indicator uses a source normalized approach to correct for differences in
citation practices between scientific fields.
 First Introduced in 2010 by Henk Moed (Moed, 2009, 2010)
 Addresses differences in citation behavior between research fields
 SNIP developed and calculated for all journals indexed in Elsevier's
Scopus
 SNIP measures a source’s contextual citation impact
 3 years citation window
 Based on Scopus data
 Includes only Articles, conference paper and Reviews.
JECRC UNIVERCITY, JAIPUR
Calculation of SNIP:
DCP = 1/3 X ----------------------- Where; n= Number of publication
1 1 1 ri= Number of Active reference
-------- +---- + ……+---- pi =1 For each citing publication
P1r1 p2r2 pn rn
SNIP:
Raw impact per paper (RIP)
Database citation potential (DCP)
RIP:
Number of Citation
Number of Publications
JECRC UNIVERCITY, JAIPUR
Example: Number of Publication for X Journal is 10, Number of citing is
120 and number of Active Reference per citing publication is 6, then
calculate the SNIP for X journal.
RIP
SNIP = ----------
DCP
RIP: 120/10 = 12
DCP: 1/3X(120)/(120)X(1/6) = 2
SNIP : 12/2= 6

SCImago Journal Rank(SJR):
I. SCImago Journal Rank (SJR indicator) is a measure of scientific
influence of scholarly journals that accounts for both the number
of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the
journals where such citations come from. A journal's SJR is a numeric
value indicating the average number of weighted citations received
during a selected year per document published in that journal during
the previous three years. Higher SJR values are meant to indicate
greater journal prestige.
II. The SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) is based on the transfer of prestige
from a journal to another one; such prestige is transferred through the
references that a journal do to the rest of the journals and to itself.
- Source of data base for SJR- Scopus,
- Citation time frame -3 Years,
- Journal self-citation-Limited
- Citation value -Weighted
JECRC UNIVERCITY, JAIPUR
Impact per Publication (IPP):
I. This mode of measurement calculates the ratio of citations in a year
(Y) to scholarly papers published in the three previous years (Y-1, Y-2,
Y-3) divided by the number of scholarly papers published in those
same years (Y-1, Y-2, Y-3).
II. Impact per publication, previously called RIP (raw impact per
publication), is the average number of times the articles published in
the journal over a three year period (the three years prior to the report
year) were cited during the report year. It is similar to IF, but based on
three years’ source documents rather than two.
