What is a calendar?
A calendar is a chart or device which displays the date

and the day of the week, and often the whole of a particular year divided up into months, weeks, and days (Collins english Dic.)
As you know calendar help us to know dates, months,

and years. It is something we need to live comfortably, so we thought that it would be interesting if we made a research on this topic.

The beginning of the Calendar


2000 years ago, ancient Rome citizen used the lunar

calendar (1 year is 355 days),but this calendar had 10 more extra days. So Cieser made new calendar called Julius calendar. They use this calendar for about 1,500 years.

The beginning of the Calendar


After that, many people found an error in the Julius

calendar so Romes king Gregorius 8 (8) made a new solar calendar in 1582.
But now we use a different one. Not the Gregorius

calendar. In fact the Julius calendar is the one most similar to the calendar we use today.

The meaning of each Month


January (januarius)

-> the entrance, door, passage and etc


February (februarius)

-> februarius (Latin) mean is clean.


March (martius)

-> god of the war who is Ares.


April (aprilis)

-> Aprilcame from aperie (Latin verb) that mean is indicate.

The meaning of each Month


May (maius)

-> 1st meaning is the god of spring and growth who is Maia. 2nd meaning is from Majores(Latin) word that means old person.
June (junius)

-> June came from word Juniores (Latin) that mean young person.
July (quintilis, julius)

-> In ancient Rome calendar, July was the fifth month so july came from word quintilis. (Latin)

The meaning of each Month


August (sixtilis)

-> In ancient Rome calendar, August was the sixth month, so August came from word sixtilis. (Latin)
September (septembris)

-> In ancient Rome calendar, September was the seventh month, so September came from the word septembris.(Latin)
October (odtober)

-> In ancient Rome calendar, October was the eighth month, so October came from the word odtober.(Latin)

The meaning of each Month


November (nebember)

-> In ancient Rome calendar, November was the ninth month, so November came from the word nebember .(Latin)
December (december)

-> In ancient Rome calendar, December was the tenth month, so December cane from word december.(Latin)

How do we CALCULATE the Calendar?


Here, we will learn how to calculate the calendar. By calculating the calendar we can know the weekday of a particular date. Ex) What day is 2037 January first?? *USE this Method !! ->Essential # of year + Essential #of months +date)/7 >find the remainder
So if we calculate this, 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 (4 is not bigger than 7) so its THURSDAY!!!
