Problem Statement
Since, we have been coming across many charging methods of electric vehicles which
includes losses in terms of heat where thermal management is the main issue for Electric
vehicle due to plugged in charging hence,using water cooled system increase the weight of
the EV as well as consumes more time to charge . Hence When we use wireless
technology for the charging very less amount of heat is produced comparatively.This
project illustrates Operational principle of wireless charging, Selecting the best
system(Static or Dynamic), Selection of High frequency equipment, Advantages of
wireless Charging over Plug-in charging.

Introduction
In this present era, world is shifting from traditional techniques to advance technique.
Electric Vehicles are today’s zero emission vehicular technology which are considered as
the future of automotive industry. With the advancement in technology, Charging of
Electric vehicle from Wired to Wireless method. Now a days, Wireless power transfer is
gaining its own flamboyant to its applications in wide areas because Using IC engines
produces more heat during the charging of the battery and large amount of carbon
emission when it runs on Gasoline and diesel engine . The major issue with the electric
vehicle is time required for charging the EV and lack of charging stations followed by the
plug-in charging where it requires much time to charge the electric vehicle. In order to
overcome these drawbacks we have introduced wireless charging technique to charge the
electric Vehicle. where it saves time as well as saves the cost of the wire.
Types of Charging Techniques

There are basically four types of wireless charging based on operating techniques:
● Capacitive
● Permanent gear wireless charging
● Inductive wireless charging
● Resonant inductive wireless power transfer

Methodologies of Charging:
● Static
● Dynamic
Resonance Inductive Wireless Power Transfer
● Principle of resonance inductive wireless power transfer is similar to that of inductive
wireless power transfer.
● High power transfer capability compared to that of inductive wireless power transfer
● More efficient
● High quality factor
In IPT system, a high frequency AC supply of range in KiloHertz is given as an input to the
primary coil. The secondary coil uses a resonant tank so as to tune to the frequency of transmission.
Since secondary coil uses resonance phenomenon to be tuned to transmitter frequency, therefore
IPT is also known as resonant IPT. By using resonance phenomenon, the power transferred to
receiving coil, and hence, the efficiency is increased. This makes the electrical power transfer more
efficient. In order to convert AC supply from mains 50Hz to high frequency AC, the supply is first
rectified, and then, power electronics-based inverter circuit is used.
Derivation of Design Parameters
Z1Z2i p + ω2M2 i p = VP Z2 (7)
Dividing equation 7 by Z2 ,one can write
Z1i p + ω2M2 i p/Z2 = VP (8)
Z1 + ω2M2 /Z2 = VP /i p (9)
In Eq. (9), VP /i p is the impedance as viewed from primary side or it can be called
as input impedance (Zin) also, and Zr = ω2M2/Z2 is the reflected impedance of
secondary to primary side. Reflected impedance Zr can be expressed as
Zr = ω2M2 / (jωLs − 1/jωCs + RL) (10)
Z1 = jωL p − 1/jωCp (1)
Z2 = jωLs − 1 /jωCs + RL (2)
Z1i p − jωMis = VP (3)
Z2is = jωMi p (4)
Multiplying equation 3 and 4 with Z2 and equation 4 with jωM one can write
Z1Z2i p − jωM Z2is = VP Z2 (5)
jωM Z2is + ω2M2 i p = 0 (6)
Adding equation 5 and 6 we get
At resonant frequency, term jω0Ls− 1/ jω0Cs = 0, and therefore, we have, therefore, the
expression of secondary compensation capacitor is given as
Cs = 1/Lsω02 (11)
Zr(ω = ωo) = ω02M2 /RL (12)
The input impedance at resonant frequency is given as
Zin = jωoL p -1/j ωoCp + ωo2M2 /RL (13)
Also, at resonance, the imaginary part of input impedance becomes zero, and from this
fact, we get the value of the primary side compensation capacitor as Cp = 1/Lpω2 (14)
M = isrms ∗ RL /(iprms ∗ ωo) (15)

Qs = ω0 ∗ Ls/RL (16)

Ls = Qs ∗ RL /ω0. (17)

k = M /(LpLs)^(½) (18)

L p = M2 /(k2 ∗ Ls) (19)
