Our culture is a big reflection of our great and
complex history. It is influenced by most of our
people we have interacted with. A blend of
Malayo-Polynesian and Hispanic culture with the
influence of Chinese, Indian, Arabs snd other
Asian cultures really contribute to the customs
and traditions of the Filipinos.

WEAKNESS OF THE FILIPINO
CHARACTER
• Passivity and lack of initiative - Always in acceptance mode and no
proactivity
• Colonial mentality - Romanticizing western cultures too much . This can
lead to believing that Philippines is inferior to other countries when it is not
• Kanya-kanya syndrome - Crab mentality to be exact. People are afraid
when they are outclassed by someone. They love to see themselves
winning and the other party suffer.
• Extreme personalism - There is no gap between objective tasks and
emotional involvement
WEAKNESS OF THE FILIPINO
CHARACTER
• Extreme family centeredness - Too much goodness can be a serious flaw.
It only manifests what suits the best to their family, not caring for others.
Serious examples of this is the political dynasties reigning in our homeland.
• Lack of discipline - Procrastination, lack of willpower, motivation and
ambition
• Lack of self-analysis and reflection - Lack of validation, making us satisfied
to superficial explanations and solutions
• Ningas cogon - Starting task enthusiasticlly but loses interests and dont
finish it
WEAKNESS OF THE FILIPINO
CHARACTER
• Gaya-gaya attitude - Imitating or copying other culture. Whilst getting
inspiration is not bad, too much of this attitude leads to underappreciating
our country
