Calculation Groups – How I get paid. A common set of rules that apply to the same employees. Found
under Maintenance -> System Admin -> Toolkit -> Quick Rule Editor.
Examples: Salary/Exempt, Hourly/Nonexempt, CBA (name),
Union/Nonunion.
Pay Groups – When I get paid. A grouping of employees that get paid on the same cycle. Found under
Maintenance -> Payroll Settings –> Payroll Close -> Pay Group.
Examples: Weekly, Biweekly, Semimonthly
Security Groups – What I can do. A grouping of employees who all have the same access to the application.
Found under Maintenance -> Security -> Group Security -> Security Group.
Examples: System Admin, Payroll Admin, Supervisor, Employee.
Teams – Who I can see. A grouping of employees who all report to the same Supervisor. Found under
Maintenance -> Security -> Team Security -> Team.
Examples: Based on Supervisor structure in GHR/HRT
*Note: Teams are hierarchical and have a
parent/child relationship like a corporate organization chart. The CEO can see ALL employees,
but downstream managers/supervisors can only see their direct reports.

Time Codes and Hour Types
A Timecode is a code that gets assigned to different activities during the workday. Many timecodes are
delivered by default, but the most common are WRK, UAT, BRK and MEAL.
Found under = Maintenance, Payroll Settings, Time Codes
Timecodes can affect balances for PTO, Sick, or Vacation based on accruals. Timecode balances can be
incremented or decremented.
Other Timecode setup options include Unauthorize, Irregular, LTA (req’d for Time Off Types), LMS and Is
Productive.
An Hour Type pairs with a Time Code and sets the rate factor (0, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) for straight time , overtime and
unpaid. Delivered Hour Types include; REG, OT1, OT2, UNPAID. Often configured are Leave or Time Off and
PREM. Found under = Maintenance, Payroll Settings, Hour Types
Balances are a holding place or bucket of hours that are usually accrued from either WFM or HRT (through
integration). Balances can be incremented or decremented through use of timecodes that have the same
balance name associated to it. Examples: PTO, Sick, Vacation, Banked OT or Banked Holidays.
Found under Maintenance -> Balances and Accruals -> Balances
Accruals are an automatic and periodic process that increments the associated balance. A single accrual can
have multiple entries or details that provide different increment values based on seniority. Example: A
vacation accrual may provide hours earned weekly, monthly, yearly, or pay period and the hours earned can
vary depending on the seniority tier the employee belongs to. If they are a new hire, they may earn 5 hours
per pay period, but if they have 15 years of seniority they would earn more.

Setup
Accrual Policy is a collection of different accrual types that are assigned to the employee record. Example: An
accrual policy may be called Full Time, and the accrual policy could contain FMLA, Sick and Vacation accrual
plans. A Part Time accrual policy may only contain FMLA.
Found under Maintenance -> Balances and Accruals -> Accruals -> Policy
Setup
Time Off Types is where you configure the time off types for requested leave. The Leave Request System will
route a request from an employee to their direct Supervisor. Time off types often coincide with balances like

Labor Metrics and Labor Metric Security
Labor Metrics is a group of accounting entries. The default groups are called, Department, Project and
Docket. Jobs are also contained under the Labor Metrics, and these are what drives the employees' rate of
pay. These tables can be leveraged to hold any accounting entity from FSM and the labels can be modified to
match. Examples: table values will typically come from HRT provided by FSM chart of accounts. Found
under Maintenance -> Labor Metrics
Labor Metric Security is a setup that limits which list values are viewable by certain employee groups. Most
typically, this is used to restrict which timecodes a user can access in the timesheets. It can be extended to
other areas like labor metrics, but it is always used on timecodes. The success of this feature relies upon the
coding of the timecode lookup field in the timesheet. To provide best flexibility, a unique LMS entry should be
setup for each individual timecode. The details within each LMS entry involve assigning a security group and
calc group to define who can use it and who it can be applied to.

WFM Basic Scheduling is comprised of two main elements; shifts and shift patterns.
Shifts are a unique start/end time for a work unit. Examples: 0800-1600, 9AM–5PM, 2300-0700.
Found under Maintenance -> Schedule Settings -> Shifts
Shift Patterns are a set of repeating shifts grouped together in order to establish a work schedule. Shift
patterns can be created for different shifts per day and multiple days or weeks. Shift patterns repeat when
they get to the end of the shift list. Shifts are assigned to a day number with the first day of the week being
defined by the “Start Date”. The start date selected will set the first day in the pattern to start on the day
selected. Examples: 0900-1700 M-F, Sat-Sun 2300-1100, 0700-1900 MWF, M-Th 10am-8pm.
Found under Maintenance -> Schedule Settings -> Shift Pattern
*Note – shift patterns are assigned in HR Talent under Schedules and sent to WFM through integration.
WFM Reports – User -> Reporting -> Reports -> Standard Reports
