Co Powerpoint

The document outlines a lesson plan for teaching students about solid figures, including activities for group work to identify and describe various shapes such as cubes, pyramids, and cylinders. It includes vocabulary definitions for terms like face, vertex, and edge, and distinguishes between polyhedrons and non-polyhedrons. The lesson also features interactive games to engage students in recognizing and visualizing solid figures.

GROUP ACTIVITY

Group the class into three (2)

Each group will have an activity sheet
Each group will be given 5 minutes to answer their activity
GROUP 1
1. Find the following words in the box:
1) CUBE
2) PYRAMID
3) PRISM
4) CYLINDER
5) SPHERE

Group 2 : Put the following objects in the similar shape:

Strategy: Play the Concentration Game
Teacher prepares 12 cards consecutively numbered with illustrations
at the back.
Teacher divides the class into three groups of five.
The first player of each group will choose 5 numbers which he thinks
has illustrations of 5 solid figures.
Teacher will open the cards to see if the answers are all correct.
When the answer is incorrect, other groups may steal the chance to
answer.
The first group to get the most number of point wins.
Solid figures are three-dimensional
object has length, width, and height,
Moreover, they have faces, vertices, and
edges.
VOCABULARY TIME

SINGULAR PLURAL

Face Faces
Vertex Vertices
Edge Edges
Polyhedron Polyhedra
FACE – is a
curved or flat
surface of a
solid figure.
EDGES – is
a line
segment
between the
faces
VERTEX – is
a point where
the two edges
meet
Solid figures are either POLYHEDRON or NON-POLYHEDRON

POLYHEDRON – If all its faces are polygons.

Example: Cube, Pyramid, Rectangular Prism

NON-POLYHEDRON - are three-dimensional shapes
with at least one side that is not a polygon.

Example:

Cylinder, Cone, Sphere

Describing and visualizing the different kinds of solid figures

1. Cube – is also a prism with congruent squares as bases (or

sides) and a lateral face. It has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8
vertices.

2. Pyramid – is a solid figure made up of base and triangular

faces. These faces meet at a common topmost point called the
vertex. It has 5 faces, 8 edges, and 5 vertices.
3. Rectangular Prism – is a solid figure that have parallel
faces that have the same shape, the faces of the sides are
parallelogram. It has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices.

4. Cylinder – is a solid figure that has two circle and curved

lateral face. It has 2 circular bases, it has 3 faces, 2 edges, and
0 vertex.
5. Cone – a solid figure that has a circular flat base and curved
face pointed towards the top. The pointed top end of the cone
is called the vertex. It has 2 faces, 1 edges, and 1 vertex.

6. Sphere – is a solid figure in which all points are of equal

distance from a point called its center and these points form a
curved surface as well.
What are solid figures?

Visualize and describe the different solid figures: cube,

rectangular prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone
and sphere.

Identify the face, vertex and edge of a solid figure.

GROUP ACTIVITY:
Group the class into three (3)
The red team, yellow team, and the blue team
Each group will be given 5 minutes to answer their activity

Red Team: Write the name of the solid figures that matches the shape of each given
objects.
Yellow Team: Complete the table to describe solid figures.
Blue Team: Give the letter of the solid figure being describe in column A to column B.
