Defined as the computer – controlled
integration of multiple forms of media
that include text, graphics, audio, video,
etc. The primary characteristic of a
multimedia system is the use of more
than one kind of medium to deliver
content and functionality.

a video and show it to the entire world
(e.g. YouTube)

Linear Multimedia
It presents information and active
content without any navigation control
for the viewer. The users sit back and
watch the presentation. The
presentation normally plays from the
start to end or even loops continually to
present the information.

Non-Linear Multimedia
It presents information requiring user
interactivity to control progress as used
with a computer game or used in self-
paced computer-based training. Non-
linear content is also known as
hypermedia content. The users control
the delivery of elements.

internet connectivity while offline
multimedia is an application presented

Interactive Multimedia is the means to
interact with these media typically with a
computer keyboard, mouse, touch
screen, on-screen buttons, and text entry
allowing a user to make decisions as to
what takes place next.

Rich Media involves a combination of
sound, pictures, animations, and video
with integrated interactivity so that
users, by pointing and clicking, can
access online information.

Internet users can download the
presentation and view it with a media
player of their own, such as Apple’s
Quick Time, Windows Media Player, or
