Corporation Overview
 Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development
Corporation Ltd (MRIDC), a 50:50 Joint Venture of
“Government of Maharashtra” and “Ministry of
Railways” started functioning since July 2018.
 Setup with objectives:
 To provide a boost to Rail Infrastructure Projects in
the State of Maharashtra by providing critical
connectivity and capacity enhancement.
 Address long pending demands for construction of
new Railway lines in the State of Maharashtra.
 Identify traffic potential of different regions within
the State of Maharashtra including rail connectivity
to neighbouring States.

 Mumbai Suburb is very different from other cities.

 It lacks modern engineering structures other than

skyscraper buildings.

 Many Road over bridges are more than 100 years old

and have outlived its life. Few bridges are 127 years

old.

 Effort has been made by Zonal Railways for replacing

these old bridges over the last 25 years but not


Facts about ROBs in Mumbai

 Road traffic volume are so high that stopping/

diverting create chaos in the city, Solution for

rebuilding to be found out with minimum disturbance

to road traffic

 Considering it all, MRIDC has come out with solution of

replacing these age old bridges on fast track basis

with minimum disturbance/ inconvinience to the local

Cable Stay Bridge façade lighting.
 MRIDC desires to light up the cable stay Bridge – Tilak
Bridge at Dadar, Mumbai.

 The lighting envisaged is using IP 66 LED pixel lighting


using RGBW LEDs on both the cables as well as on
Pylon Structure of the Bridge.

 The desired lighting is for the all cables of bridge,


such that they are visible from outside the bridge
areas.

 The lighting should be such that it can depict various
themes as well as able to display short videos and
public service messages.

 On the Top of the Pylon, it desired to have a moving


light that is capable of producing a multiple beam
light effect, which can be a signature light for this
bridge and act as an event marker in the horizon.
