A graphics use lines, shapes, colours and patterns to show information.
Apart from being able to draw lines and other geometric shapes, it is also
possible to do full art works and painting in full colours of any kind of
objects. Graphic images can be created using computers.
Examples of Graphic Packages
All these can be produced with art illustration graphic software. They are:
1) Paint
2) Corel Draw
3) Instant Artist
4) Harvard graphics
5) Photo shops
6) Logo graphics
Corel Draw
Corel draw was developed by Corel Corporation founded in June 1985. This
corporation has a network of over 100 distributors in more than 40 countries.
There are many versions of Corel Draw ranges from Corel 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,
12, 14, 15,16 and 17. The uses of all the versions are similar only with little
modifications and improvement to the advantage of the user.

The Features of Corel Draw

1) Title Bar: It displays application name and file name at the top of the
package.
2) Menu Bar: It displays the various command use to work on the
program.
3) Page Layout: This is a workspace for user’s work. It is otherwise known
as printable page.
4) Standard Tool Bar: This bar contains icon and commands for
performing operations on documents.
5) Status Bar: It displays detailed information about programs selected.
1) Ruler: This is used for measuring objects in order to obtain accurate size.
There are two types: horizontal and vertical.
2) Properties Bar: It displays detailed information about graphic/text
selected.
3) Scroll Bar: They are used for scrolling page layout/work in the desired
direction (Horizontal and Vertical)
4) Colour Palette: It displays various colours used for colouring any selected
object/text.
5) Tool Box: This contains the tools used to create, fill, and modify your
drawing.
Tools and description

a. Pick tool: used to select, reside, skew and rotate object.


b.Shape tool: used to edit shape object.
c. Zoom tool: used to change the magnification level of the drawing or
object.
d.Hand tool: used to navigate in the drawing
e. Free hand tool: used to draw single line segments and curves.
f. Artistic media tool: used to draw various types of brush strokes or
create custom brush strokes
a. Smart drawing tool: used to convert freehand strokes to basic shapes and
smoothed curves.
b.Rectangle tool: used to draw rectangles and squares.
c. Ellipse tool: used to draw ellipses and circle.
d.Graph paper tool: used to draw a grid of lines that appears as a graph
paper.
e. Eyedropper tool: used to pick the properties of an object such as fill, line
thickness, size and effects
f. Spiral tool : used to draw logarithmic and symmetrical spiral
g. Paint bucket tool: used to apply the properties picked by the eyedropper
tool to an object.

Flyout
Set of related tools (visible and hidden) is known as flyout.
In addition to the visible tools, the toolbox also has hidden tools that can
be used to select, create, edit and fill drawings and text and so on. Hidden
tools are indicated by small triangles on the lower right corner.
Flyouts and description
1. The shape edit flyout: it contains the shape, knife, eraser, smudge brush,
rough hen brush, free transform and virtual segment delete tools.
2. The zoom flyout: contains the zoom and hand tools.
3. The curve flyout: contains the freehand, Bezier, artistic media, pen poly line,
3 point curve , interactive connector and dimension tools.
4. The rectangle flyout: contains the rectangle and three point rectangle tools.
5. The ellipse flyout: contains the ellipse and the 3 point ellipse.
6. The object flyout: contains the graph paper, polygon and spiral tools.
7. Outline flyout: contains the outline pen dialog and outline colour dialog and
the docker window tools. It also contains selection of outlines of various
widths.
