INTRODUCTION
 Bridges play a crucial role in our transportation
infrastructure, providing safe and efficient passage
for drivers and commuters.
 However, over time, bridges can deteriorate due to
various factors such as aging, environmental
conditions, and heavy traffic loads.
 To ensure the safety and durability of bridges,
structural health monitoring (SHM) has emerged as
a vital tool.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
• This proposed study aims to address the
challenge of bridge degradation over time by
evaluating various monitoring techniques for
assessing structural health."
1. How does structural health monitoring
contribute to the safety and durability of
bridges?
2. What are the benefits of implementing
structural health monitoring systems for
SCOPE & DELIMITATION
The study may have limitations in terms of
geographic scope, potentially limiting the
generalizability of the findings.
Technical aspects of the implementation
and optimization of structural health
monitoring systems for bridges could
present challenges in the study.
Time constraints may impact the depth
and breadth of data collection and analysis
for the monitoring systems.
SCOPE & DELIMITATION

Availability of resources, such as funding or

technology, could affect the study's
implementation and outcomes.
External factors, such as weather conditions or
traffic patterns, may influence the effectiveness
of the monitoring systems.
Legal and regulatory considerations must be
taken into account in the study to ensure
compliance and validity of the results.

 The study is important for bridge

owners, operators, engineers, and
researchers
 It can help implement effective
structural health monitoring systems
 It leads to improved maintenance
practices, enhanced safety, and cost-
effective resource allocation
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Engineers and researchers can

gain insights and make informed
decisions
The study aims to contribute to
the safety and durability of
bridges, benefiting the traveling
public.
RESEARCH DESIGN

The researchers utilized a

phenomenological
qualitative method to
collect crucial data.
RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS

 The participants in the study

were 3 Engineers who had

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Community Awareness
 By raising awareness among the local
community about the importance of
bridge health monitoring, individuals
become more proactive in reporting
potential issues and supporting
maintenance efforts.
RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Risk-informed Decision Making

 By utilizing risk assessment techniques and

data from monitoring systems, engineers can
make informed decisions to mitigate risks and
prioritize maintenance activities.
RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Climate Resilience
 Climate resilience is vital for ensuring the
safety and durability of bridges through
structural health monitoring. By monitoring key
indicators and assessing the impacts of climate
change, engineers can identify vulnerabilities
and implement measures to enhance bridge
resilience.
RESULT AND DISCUSSION

Smart Maintenance Strategies

 Smart maintenance strategies ensure the safety and
durability of bridges through structural health monitoring. By
utilizing data-driven decision making, predictive
maintenance, condition-based maintenance, remote
monitoring, and integrating IoT and AI technologies,
engineers can optimize maintenance efforts, reduce costs,
and enhance bridge safety and longevity.
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
