Chapter 5

A brief history
• In the mid-1960s, mainframe computers in
research organizations were stand alone
devices.
• In 1967, and Association for Computing
machinery (ACM) meeting, ARPA
presented its ideas for ARPANET, a small
network of connected computers.
• In 1972, VINT CERF and BOB KAHN were
part of the core ARPANET group,
collaborated on what they called the
Internetting Project. Cerf and Kahn’s
landmark 1973 paper outlined the
protocols to achieved end-to-end delivery
The father of Internet is
VINTON GRAY “VINT”
CERF
Internet uses the standard Internet Protocol
Suite, often called TCP/IP.

It consists of millions of private, public,


academic, business and government
network, of local to global scope., that are
linked by a broad array of electronic,
wireless and optical networking
technologies.

The internet carries an extensive range of


information resources and services, such as
the inter-linked hypertext documents of the
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a connection-
oriented protocol for communications that helps in the
exchange of messages between different devices over
a network. The Internet Protocol (IP), which establishes
the technique for sending data packets between
computers, works with TCP.
History:
• TIM BERNERS-LEE is a British computer
scientist who invented the Web.
• In 1989-1990 introduced WWW at CERN
in Switzerland.
• In his book weaving the web he
developed have 3 essential technologies:
URL, HTML & HTTP.
• In 1990, web server & web browser are
created.
• August 6, 1991, the web was available in
public.
• In 1995, Internet Explorer released, and
JavaScript Integrated, also the first
browser was starts.
HYPERLINK
• It is a word, phrase, or image that you
can click on to jump to a new document
or a new section within the current
document.
• Hyperlinks are found in nearly all Web
pages, allowing users to click their way
from page to page. Text hyperlinks are
often blue and underlined.
HYPERTEXT
• Is a text that links to other information.
By clicking on a link in a hypertext
document, a user can quickly jump to
different content.
• Hypertext is usually associated with Web
pages. Today nearly every web page
includes inks to other pages and both
text and images can b e used as links to
more content.
WEBPAGE
• A webpage is a resource of information
that is suitable for the world wide web
and can be accessed through a web
browser.
• This information is usually in HTML or
XHTML format and may provide
navigation to other web pages via
hypertext links.
