Export and Import

Data in Tally Prime
A Brief Guide
 What is Export ?

 Exporting data refers to the process of taking data
from one system or software and saving it in a format
that can be used elsewhere. In Tally Prime, for example,
you can export your accounting records, inventory
details, or other data into an XML file. This file can then
be shared or used in another system, ensuring the
information remains intact and structured.
 What is Import ?

 Importing data is the reverse process. It involves
taking data from an external source (like an XML file)
and bringing it into your system or software. In Tally
Prime, you can import data that has been exported
from another Tally Prime instance or different
accounting software, allowing you to integrate that
information seamlessly into your current setup.

• Behaviour.

• Combined Opening
Balance

 By enabling this option, your opening balances
are combined. Meaning, if two or more ledgers
contain the same data, the system will
combine them and show a single balance.
• Ignore Duplicate

 By enabling this option, the system ignores
duplicate entries. Meaning, if any duplicate
entry is found in the imported data, the
system will not import that entry.
• Modify with New Data

 This option means that if changes are to be
made to the existing record, the new data gets
modified accordingly. Meaning will overwrite
the imported data if a transaction or record
