In every thing give thanks: for this is the will

of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19

Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not
prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast
that which is good. 22 Abstain from all
appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of
peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body be
preserved blameless unto the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that
calleth you, who also will do it.
1 THESSALONIANS 5:18-23
NLT - Be thankful in all circumstances, for
this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ
Jesus. 19 Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. 20 Do
not scoff at prophecies, 21 but test everything
that is said. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay
away from every kind of evil. 23 Now may the
God of peace make you holy in every way, and
may your whole spirit and soul and body be
kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ
comes again. 24 God will make this happen,
for he who calls you is faithful.

We live in a world full of whiners,
Introduction
complainers - bitter with envy and
frustration. People who are never
satisfied with anything. In fact, Paul
declares a destructive indictment upon
man in his rebellion against God –
Romans 1:21; because, although they
knew God, they did not glorify Him as
God, nor were thankful, but became
futile in their thoughts, and their foolish
hearts were darkened.
In our world today,
. we see lack of
contentment in how God has
made us (male and female, unique
in our make up, gifted in certain
ways, etc.). Is it not a lack of
gratitude for what he has given us
when we find people not satisfied
with what they have?
betrayed by someone you love, we
.
are well or sick, abundance or lack,
we have gotten what we want or not.
How easy can that be? It can be
tough with human ability but easier
when the Holy Spirit is leading. A
gospel artist sang a song “When
troubles come my way, I will praise
you”
God’s word is telling you and I that
.
it is the will of God for us in Christ
Jesus. That means whenever we
choose not to give thanks, we are
operating outside God’s will. Can
anyone operate outside God’s will
and prosper? Proverbs 28:13; He
who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes
them will have mercy.
turning to our Maker,
.
Sustainer, Redeemer, and
Lord in true appreciation.
David got it right when he
said such thoughts of who God
is too wonderful for him and
high for him
Psalms 139:1-2&14 says :
1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and
known me. 2 Thou knowest my
downsitting and mine uprising, thou
understandest my thought afar off.
14 I will praise thee; for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvellous are thy works; and that
my soul knoweth right well.
The truth is, God is the only reason
why you have not. lost everything.
Horatio Gates Spafford after the loss of
his children and his estate when only
his wife survived by divine intervention
penned that popular hymn – When
peace like a river attendedth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou has taught me to
say, “It is well, it is well with my soul.”

It is God’s will – 1 John 2:17; And the
world passeth away, and the lust
thereof: but he that doeth the will of
God abideth for ever.
It is a command that should be
obeyed by all true children of God –
John 14:15; If ye love me, keep my
commandments – Daniel 4.
give thanks, we are reminded not to
. of ingratitude can
quench the spirit. Sin
quench the spirit. As we embrace
prophecy, Paul admonished us to prove
all things with the mirror of God’s word
and hold tight only what is good. Do
away with anything that is bad by not
accepting the lies of the devil. Faithful is
the God who called you, because He will
do it.
If we are His children, we must
give thanks .to our Maker,
Redeemer and Friend.
Celebrate God for what you
have and overlook what you do
not have yet. It may mean that
what you do not have is outside
His will for your life.
