Myth Vs. Reality

• Engagement is generally associated with satisfaction

• But……

• A satisfied employee may be highly disengaged


Who is an engaged employee
• “an employee is engaged if he or she is willing to go
above and beyond what would typically be expected in
his or her role”.

• It is possible to feel engaged by the job but not by the
organisation -

• Likewise ….

• It is also possible to feel engaged by the organisation


and not the job
An Engaged Workforce Attributes
There are types…
• Engaged
The employees who work with passion and feel a profound
connection to their company.

• Not-engaged
They are essentially “checked out”. They are sleepwalking through
their workday, clocking time, but not putting in energy or passion
into their work.

• Actively disengaged
These are unhappy and resentful individuals and who express
themselves openly. Everyday these workers undermine what their
engaged workers accomplish.

decision making process, not in mere job related
activities, but at all levels of management

Employee Experience
• Employee experience (EX) is how employees feel about
everything they encounter throughout their employee
journey. From the time they apply for a job until well
after they leave an employer, the entirety of their
material and relational interactions shape their
perception of the organization.
